Yep, Lucky does indeed skew young, but I can easily translate some of those style inspirations into something I would actually wear. And I'm 57!

I recently subscribed to People StyleWatch and although it IS celebrity-heavy, it is chock full of great fashion, beauty and health advice.

mm. I'd wondered where Anne Keane went (I think that was her name)... but didn't realise the chief editor had switched out. I'm over Lucky's web, that's for sure, but I still like to look at the mag. That said, I'm pretty much over all the fashion mags, and am returning to the out there avant garde mags.

I feel like it's not just the magazines though. I think fashion is pretty dead and directionless itself.

It does seem odd that there is no older-style Lucky for women over 35. There's no way I could wear some of the stuff in the last editorial. Sports jerseys over maxis? I gag.

Me. I don't get the price points or the articles. I will pick up People StyleWatch for plane trips, and I like InStyle. Do we need to start our own magazine here?

Yes. I almost canceled my subscription the other day, but that made me feel old and all "you darn kids get off my lawn" so I thought I'd give it another chance. (But I'm watching from behind the curtain, ready to yell!)

I'm really not a big fan of either of these magazines. They are shamelessly shilling the most mainstream and accessible looks that you can see anywhere else. I really like Marie Claire these days, I feel like they get my demographic. It doesn't make me want to go out and buy or copy everything in the magazine, but I find it inspiring and just edgy enough to keep me interested.

Over the past five years I've slowly let go of all my fashion mag subscriptions:

First, I let go of Lucky because it just skewed too young for me. :-(
Then, I let go of InStyle since it seemed to be turning into a celebrity fan mag.
Last, I let go of Bazaar for exactly the reason Jonesy cited...too much finger wagging...plus some of their photo spreads were laughably ridiculous.

I skim through mags at the hair salon or pick one up if I'm taking a trip, but other than that I rely on YLF almost exclusively now.

I haven't read it for years now. I like In Style a lot better. I was one of the ones who was influenced by all the raves for Bazaar and took advantage of a cheap subscription. Am now saying, "Two years of this (sigh)."

I'm not loving it as much as I used to, but I'm staying for a little while because I use the rewards program. There have been enough instances where they've had a better deal than ebates to make it worthwhile, but it's getting close.

I am getting very close to being over it. In the past, I would see at least a few outfits that I wanted to use as inspiration but the last few have left me cold. I also have a subscription to InStyle and find it more useful.

Under the old editors I felt that over time lucky wasn't as great as it used to be, but I was very skeptical when they changed editors because their website immediately became insipid (top ten lists for everything). I was looking forward to checking out an issue the next time I am in the U.S. to see how the actual mag is. I had stopped visiting the website, but now I see they did another revamp that seems better. Lucky used to be my favorite magazine by far. I haven't found a replacement. Every magazine that I find tolerable tone-wise--maybe interviews with interesting people?--has fashion that is just too mature or business-woman oriented.

I struggle with Lucky--- I was a huge fan when they were first created. The looks and tips were accessible. Now I find less and less to love and am really tired of seeing 550 dollar dresses in every single outfit.

I also have a huge problem sourcing the magazine locally, but haven't subscribed because I will be moving soon and the last time I moved the post lady in our town stole my mags instead of forwarding them until the magazine companies caught up with the address change.

Sigh...I have been a longtime Lucky subscriber, and I do see what you're saying. I thought the September issue was pretty disappointing, but then I thought they bounced back a bit with the October issue (I personally loved the brights/yellow/tribal/Aztec spread). I am going to stick with them and see how the new editor settles in, because I haven't found a decent alternative. When it's good, it's very creative and interesting, and never too bossy. I like how they combine things and do a bit of a high-low mix. I could really do without their city by city shopping guides, and their make-up content, but I still like how they style clothes.

I heard lots of people raving over Bazaar, so I got a subscription, but I am not really a fan. They seem to just recycle the runway looks in their fashion spreads (e.g., a head-to-toe look by Balenciaga in some pretty scene, followed by a head-to-toe Marc Jacobs look, etc.) and their tips/trends reports seem sort of "finger wagging," like, "you'd better do this this season, or you will be OUT." They also seem repetitive: They have been trumpeting red clothes, accessories, etc. for about the last 3 issues! In Style has gotten less celebrity-focused, but they still go on and on about the celebs (do I really want to see a guided tour of the Kardashian sisters' closets, and all of their tacky shoes?? No.) in a way that I find unpleasant. Just about every outfit they feature seems to include sky-high platform pumps, which is really weird to me.

So, bottom line, I hear you, but I am sticking around with Lucky for a bit longer, with my fingers crossed.

If I see one more celebrity hawking their new line of whatevers on that cover, I may cancel my subscription.

Also, I don't know if I am getting older, or if it's the new editorial staff, or what, but I have not found a single thing I wanted or a look to copy in the past 6 issues. I feel like the current stylings are both garish and frumpy. What happened to the edgier, more sophisticated looks Lucky used to show? They're featuring more expensive items now, but the combinations... bleargh.

Alas, Lucky, InStyle may be replacing you in my heart. It's been ten years, but it's time to say goodbye.
