Yes, yes! I was thinking about this yesterday - how when I go by the size charts, the clothes are too big, even though my measurements may match the chart exactly. There are some brands in which I already know my size, but if branching out, I'll hesitate to buy something that doesn't have reviews stating how it fits and even then, it's iffy. I'd love to see an explanation, if anyone has one...

There is nothing wrong with you at all! Those size charts are practically worthless. They are usually generic and even when they are brand specific, each individual garment style is not measured so there is a lot of room for variance.

I'm raising my hand too. It's so frustrating - even if there is "vanity sizing" or whatever you want to call it, why can't the actual measurements they put on their sizing charts match the actual clothing?!

*raises hand* And their measurement charts aren't always useful! Sometimes my measurements put me into sizes 2-3 up from what I actually need. When SA's ask what size I am I usually just shrug and say "smallish?" -_-

Agreed, especially because I often buy where I cannot return.

You are not doing anything wrong, it's just the inconsistent sizing within brands, arcoss brands all over the place! I only buy things online if I know how the brand sizes

Yes. Yes, I do. Sometimes they are so unintelligible, and how can all brands fit the same (yes, Anthropologie, I'm talking to you).

NO, I don't think so. I only buy from a couple of places regularly, like Ann Taylor, and after shopping there for 25 years, I can usually just look at it and tell ( on line ) how I will do with it. But if it is a new place, I don't do well. And I get good measures too, my mom is an excellent seamstress. I especially don't do well with size ranges that overlap ( ie : with x inches on the waist, you could be a 4 or a 6...) I thought that tape measures and rulers were standard...hmm.

I know my measurements very well. Yet anytime i check out a size chart to see what size i should order online it shows up at my house too big for me. In a multitude of different brands too so it's not just like it's a certain brand running big. Am i doing something wrong here? :-/
