MaryK, forgive me if I have pointed these out to you before. I wanted to throw in a couple of pairs of lovely "active" sandals ( to make it clear, the sandals themselves are not active ) . Though I LOVE Teva and Keen, I love the Jambu "lacy" sandal in 1. I wanted to get one but they no longer have my size. They are on sale at Amazon and Endless and has really great reviews. I have also found that a "ballet action shoe " works very well for me, like the one in 2 ( I have one by Teva that is uber versatile and comfy ). Number 2 has some metallic and designs. Finally, I bought Coconut and I LOVE it. It goes well with skirts, dresses, capris, you name it. Well, maybe so much your business wear.

http://www.zappos.com/jambu-coconut-vintage-black

In case yours don't work out and you need something more feminine. I have a pair just like the ones you bought ( Keens ) in ruby red, but they just don't look good to me with skirts and dresses. Just my humble opinion.

The all the shoes are Jambu.. gee, I 'll bet you are wondering what type of vacations I take . Well, let's say our honeymoon was in Yellowstone, camping for two weeks.

No purging regrets. Only some buying regrets. But those were all my own doing.

I was going to suggest the same as MPJ for actual clambering. But if you're just hanging out, then your new shoes will be awesome!

Angie may have a personal aversion to this item or that. But I think she would also say that dressing for the occasion/climate/season is crucial to great style and also that we should cleave to what WE love ourselves.

I haven't had any purging regrets, but like Isabel, I've jumped on a forum bandwagon a few times in the past when the item just really wasn't me. They ended up languishing in my closet until I finally got rid of them. Now I'm a lot more likely to admire an item many forum members have from afar, rather than run out and buy it myself.

I have never had a purging regret. But I have had some "buys" that just didn't work for me and I felt that they should. I bought a bag with hardwear. That is not me. I also bought a biker jacket in ponte knit, not me. I also got a pair of lovely boots with a 3 inch heel that I never wear. Luckily, the mistakes have been few considering how much I just to want to try everything.

I have the water sandals you linked to - I'm mostly happy with them - but unlike thong sandals, they are heck to get on/off...

This is an excellent question. My journey with YLF was a little different because when I 'met' YLF I was pregnant and after that I had to make an enourmous purge both because nothing fit(everything was too big) , and I had to move from Portugal to Canada which was not conductive to hold on to things that didn't fit properly or that I didn't love.
But , I have things that I know are not loved by all, like a wonky puffer coat that I wore to the supermarket for the last 3 years, maxi dresses(yes, more than one) that have been very useful this summer.

But you know what? You did convince me to buy a pair of more substantial sandals for the trip: http://www.zappos.com/keen-whisper. (But I found it at Nordstrom on clearance! Yay!) Thanks, ladies!

Okay, I'm busted. We're not so much "scrambling up the riverbanks" as we are "hanging out with the locals, who all wear flipflops, and taking our shoes off and putting them back on multiple times a day."

I purged 2 pair of black boots that I still to this day think about and regret! They were given a thumbs-down by forum members, not by Angie. Now that I have a better understanding of my style, I realize that they would fit right in with my wardrobe. Darn!

P.S. I agree with mamapicklejuice. I can't imagine wearing flip-flops to scramble up riverbanks! I'd go with something with a strap so they don't fall off of your feet!

Nope, just that I haven't purged enough ; )

And there's nothing wrong with flip flops when the occasion requires them. But I do wonder about MPJ's point.

I am sort of sad to have purged my wrap dresses, but they were purged based on fit, not style. I did also toss most (not all) of my flip flops but wear the 2 pairs I kept regularly still. There are just flip flop times in life - sitting on the seawall on the river, kayaking or rafting, etc.
I am glad I resisted the purging of my coffee cup skirt. This was pre midi fever, and the length was deemed frumpy but I didn't care. I have since removed the elastic in the waist so it sits lower and is almost a maxi. It's not current or on trend but it makes me smile

My biggest regrets have been purging too much before replacing things. So I tossed my hoodies and polar tech jackets, but spent a whole winter freezing my tutu off because I didn't spend the time or energy figuring out how to replace them (didn't want sweaters, couldn't find jackets, didn't spend time shopping for jackets, etc.)

I think the flip-flops you ordered are cute - but I never find them very stable - are you sure you want to do any muddy bank clambering in them? I'd suggest and ankle strap, myself.

No big regrets, but I am making use of an available "resting zone" in my DD's closet so that I can move things out to clear closet space and think about a style direction before cutting the cord. Most things I move out end up leaving for good, but I did have a few things that I learned just needed to be styled differently to be refreshed OR that I wanted to play with them and see if it was a direction to go in, before buying something similar but more updated.

My regret was giving away all my hoodies. And, I have to admit, I did break down and replace a couple because I wanted something to throw on with my T-shirts, jeans, and athletic shoes when we go for a walk in the nature area which is very close to our house. I also use them all the time when we are at the cabin at the lake. They may not be fashionable, but I can't live without them!

Many of us have been on very exciting style journeys since we found You Look Fab. I know my style has improved immeasurably as a result of the positive influence and encouragement of Angie, et al.

But... sometimes we ("we" meaning "me") can get carried away by the peer pressure and hero-worshipping. I'm thinking, in particular, of how I donated my beloved collection of rubber-soled flip-flops after I found out they were anathema to our Angie. I did save a couple pair that I wear around the house and to the pedicure salon, but I have to admit I miss the ones I tossed.

Right now I am planning my trip to Vietnam, which will include a river cruise with lots of scrambling up muddy river banks, and I have to admit I am THRILLED to have found TWO-PACKS of rubber-soled Tevas on sale at Zappos! http://www.zappos.com/teva-mus.....tripe-blue Angie, look away, but I bought the blue and black set, and the pink and brown set. I am ridiculously happy and feel like I am good to go for both my trip and my future lounging-around-the-house needs!!

What about the rest of you? Have you lived to regret any YLF-inspired purges?

ETA: Angie, don't have too much of a heart-attack -- these days I can't bring myself to wear them other than around the house, post-pedi, or on vacation!
