I'm also a rectangle with apple tendancies (though both my body and legs are long-ish). You look terrific in your outfits!

My advice is to scour YLF for formulas (here's the apple guide too: http://youlookfab.com/2010/05/.....type-2010/) to experiment with and post photos for advice and comment. I very much like you in 1, 3 and 10 above. I have similar body and prefer straight leg pants and jeans and tunic tops (preferably flowy for semi-tuck options) I avoid anything that clings to my apple belly. I like blazers to have structure and a little waist definition to give me a faux waist.

Really? You are gorgeous! Loved 1, 2 and 6!
You seem a rectangle with apple tendencies but I would not worry so much about it, that's just the base. Don't think too much (I used to be just like you, but Angie told me once "Dressing is not a science, it's more like an art" and that helped me a lot)!
Follow your six sense, have fun!

Id have what i call my uniform and have been wearing pretty much the same kind of things for 20 years which would be a vest / cami with boot leg or kick flare pants / jeans so need to update that look esp now the bingo wings are coming in. loose tops of any kind seems to make me look pregnant. short jackets make me look blocky blazers make me look like a man but the ones that kick out at bit at the hips dont seem to terrible if i can get the arm long enough. tucking looks terrible on me gives me that water tower look lol i have not found anything yet that i felt really great in but plenty that looks bad. Thanks so much for all the tips

Tunics are my favorite and long tops that I belt lower than my natural waist.

I also love jackets because I can throw them on and tuck like people with longer torsos do but I can camouflage how high my waist is by wearing a jacket which makes the line of demarcation between my upper and lower body lower than it would look if I just stopped at tucking and belting.

Summer fruit pudding! Yummy! Rounded rectangle splashing in...

i am a rectangle with apple tendencies now turned chunky apple (pregnancy). My legs aren't proportionately long but my waist is short so the leg line seems longer...except they are also stocky, and balance out. My big challenges tend to be a long rise (pants!) and large behind as well as proportionately wide-ish shoulders for a petite.

I have used advice from Angie's posts on rectangle and apple dressing as well as occasionally using pear or IT tricks. On the other hand, you sound like you could apply the odd hourglass guideline as well as rectangle and apple.

In terms of specific clothes, I have found tunic-length tops help (regular ones can pull up too short especially over pants, emphasising the muffin/apple). So do the new banded tops, draped and hi-lo hems, silky oversized t-shirts or ruched wrap or surplice styles. Lots of room and camouflage for the squish. Keep detail up top and add a pretty neckline, show off lower legs and forearm, wear fun shoes or earrings/necklace/arm candy... and who's looking at your abdomen then, eh?

I pretty much fit your body type...rectangle with apple tendancies, muffin top, broadest at the shoulders and no hips. My torso is shorter than ideal and legs pretty long, especially hip to knee.
Since finding YLF I've discovered that layered tops over a slim bottom (straight/skinny pants or pencil skirt) work well, especially layers of different lengths like a longer shirt under a cropped jacket. The semi tuck is also helpful. Both do a good job of camoflague for the squishy midriff.
When it isn't too hot out, I often wear shapewear sized up so that it smooths but doesn't make me feel like a sausage. Not everyone likes this but if you find the right pieces, it really helps. I need something to hold in the muffintop, so either high waisted shapewear bottoms or a stretchy cami.

The rectangle with apple tendencies sounds right - like most of us you seem to have a mixed body type. What sort of clothes do you feel good in?

what do you both find works for you in tops and jackets, jeans seem simple enough once i can find them long enough but tops, jackets and coats i find the hardest. Thanks for the feedback

I'm definitely an apple. That took LOTS of research and self analysis. Maybe you're a small apple. I am definitely squishy in the middle. I thought I was an IT for the longest but then I realized I don't have broad shoulders though I have narrow hips. Don't give up, keep asking others what they see and pay attention to what fits you well.

so im still working on the body shape thing tried all the calculators they would drive you nuts in the space of 5 mins i was a banana, an apple and a pear ( so not a pear they have bootys i have a pancake) so im a fruit cocktail really helpful. for the most part im straight up and down, my shoulders are 2 inches wider then my hips i have no waist and a lovely muffin top that grows throughout the day so i get up in the morning looking like a pencil and by tea time im a pregnant looking pencil. does anyone else have a body like this? what do you wear to balance it all out? how do you sort out the short body long legs no waist over flowing muffin. Im lost i've wasted a fortune on clothes help me. Thank you all
