Can't have panty line without panties! My mom had an apoplexy, but with my column-like, floaty chiffon wedding dress, the best solution was to simply not wear any. My nude pantyhose did offer some support and coverage (and they had a cotton gusset), and before the wedding, I tested it out on my three bridesmaids and they swore up and down that they could not see through the dress. Have you ever tried the Soma Vanishing edge panties? they have that grippy stuff so they stay put. The problem was not VPL exactly, but I could see the slight indentiation at the side where the waist elastic was. I don't think this is usually visible except if one happens to be wearing a slightly sheer white dress in bright light! My Gap ones do that too.
