Welcome Ariella. I'm thrilled you posted. From what I’ve perceived on the YLF forum so far, we continue to see all ages, body types, sizes, fashion persona’s, heights, ethnicities and global locations. It’s brilliant! This makes my heart happy and one of my favourite parts about this site. We are a bunch of liquorish allsorts.

I use to be a Fuller Figure fashion buyer at one point. I also volunteer weekly as a personal dresser at Dress For Success and after 5 years of doing that, I can conclude that the average size I see in that segment of my work is 14-16, usually petite ( 5ft 3”) with a size 9W shoe. I regard this size range a specialty.

I hope the lovely lasses have made you feel comfortable. Please believe that style is beyond size on this forum. This is my mantra till my dying breath. We look forward to hearing more about you and how we can help in future

Hi everyone! Thanks for the kind responses. I don't have a picture of myself that would work, but am relatively sure I am an apple with inverted triangle tendencies. I carry a lot of my weight in my middle, have a large chest and broad shoulders. I am usually one to two sizes larger on top than I am on the bottom. I also have slimmer hips and nice legs.

I do find it hard to dress with the larger waist. Everything seems to be cut for the small-waisted -- even plus-size clothing. It's very frustrating.

Welcome Aschrieber and Oolagirl! It's to bad we live in a society that even recognizes differences in people's shapes and sizes. Dani hit the nail on the head...it's about dressing well for your shape, not worrying about your size. Also, keep in mind, Angie dresses all different sized women for a living. She has the knowledge and skill to help you love the way you look right now! It's so important to dress for today, not for how you want to look in the future.

I am a 12 or 14 so right there with the other posters. I concur that reading the posts, Angie's advice and blog and pictures have helped me tremendously. I have always loved fashion, read lots of style/fashion mags and spend lots of time browsing the stores (I think its my hobby ha ha). When I look at the size 2, 4 and 6's I feel like it gives me some inspiration to try and take better care of myself and also motivate me to fit into the styles I love. Will look forward to your input on the forum, welcome!

16 or so here! Like you, I'm working hard to lose weight (well, usually...) As others have said, everyone here is so supportive and positive, no matter what body shape or size. I think there are some 12+ readers out there, for sure - we just may be shyer about posting. I plan to post some pics soon - just haven't gotten around to it!

I highly encourage you to post away! The ladies on this forum - of all sizes - are truly remarkable. I may not be as tiny as some of them, but I've definitely still been able to learn and to work on my commitment to being more fabulous!

Hi Ariella! I'm usually a size 12 and likely will stay there - unlike you I'm not losing weight, just trying not to gain too much. ;)

One of the things I've learned on this forum is that it doesn't really matter what size you are. Whether you're a size 2, 6, or 14, there are probably things you like about your body and things you don't like. And knowing your body type helps choose flattering colours regardless of size.

I used to be a plus size, and am now down to an 8-10. I wish I knew back then that it was more important to dress for my body shape than my actual size. So I'm glad that you're able to do that now.

Hi Ariella, thanks for posting. Do you know what body type you are? I think that's the best place to start for ideas on how to dress for your body.

Not everyone here is teeny-tiny (though a lot are). I'm around a size 10, but I still learn from those that wear a 2 or 4. You can take ideas from them and translate them into your own style and make it work for you. This is a very supportive and creative forum and a great place to get feedback regardless of your size or shape.

We are kindred spirits in our quest to look fab, not to all wear the same size

Hi --

I am fairly new to these forums, but I've noticed that a lot of the women posting here are (impressively) down in the size 2-4-6 area. Are there any plus-size women on these boards?

I've been losing weight lately, but am still in the 14-16 size range. I would love to get back down to a six (where I was in college and law school), but know that I may just have to be happy with an 8 or a 10. Frankly I WOULD be happy with either of those.

Anyway, I did a few searches for "plus" and "plus size" and didn't see any responses, so just thought I'd ask if there are any kindred spirits out there.

Ariella.
