I handle it by wearing my darker shorts, tops and short sleeved dresses. Then I feel a little more like fall than in my usual bright tops ( hot pink, bright green, orange, lemon yellow). Some overcast days I can get by with wearing cotton pants, but no jeans yet. Then it usually turns to fall. Remember the Oakland fires of 1991? They began October 19th and the temps were in the high 90s. Since we live in the foothills, as do both of my sisters, we'll let out a relieved sigh once fire season is over.</p> <p>I have put away many of my summer clothes, but it is still too warm to start wearing wool or heavier fabrics.&nbsp;</p> <p>Waiting for the rains. Had our storm drains repaired in anticipation. This is the exact opposite of what I feel in my climate: in March, April, even into May when everyone else is getting cheerful weather and strutting in their spring duds I will be stuck in my fall clothes while it continues (and continues) to be below 50F and raining. This week at dawn it's in the low 60s, and by mid-afternoon it's in the mid-90s. It is NO FUN to try to dress for swings like that.&nbsp; Yesterday I wore booties, leggings, mini skirt, and open-weave sweater and just dealt with the heat on the walk to the (hot) car. Today I just gave up; at least there wasn't a wind on my bare legs. Right now the temp is 65, with a projected high of 97.</p> <p>Honestly, the thing that gets me down most is not being able to open the windows in my house.
