Thanks Airin for mentioning MNG, we have a Mango shop in the local shopping centre, I will try their jeans there next time I am in town.

I'm also on a quest for the perfect pair of jeans...You might want to try lucky brand sofia curvy fit bootcut jeans. They *almost* worked for me but I must be long in the rise or something because I often find that jeans are too short in the crotch :/ Anyway, they have a lot of stretch and a smaller waistband + they make your butt look good. They do cost $100 though, so pretty expensive for jeans.

I love jeggings because I can get a pair that's a bit snug in the hip/thigh area (that's how they are supposed to fit, anyway!) and that fit my waist. I used to love the gap 1969 jeggings, but I lost a few pounds and am now in between sizes :/ I ordered the old navy rockstar jeggings, we'll see if they fit!

I'm also planning on trying levi's curveid jeans when I get the chance to make it to the store. Apparently they have some crazy machine that takes all of your measurements and produces a printouts of the jean styles that will work for your body. I'll post an update if I give it a try.

Another fellow pear with jean issues. I've been trying to get by with lower priced brands, but I think I'm ready to step it up to premium denim if I can find the right pair. I'm also petite, but find most petite jeans end up being too short, probably because my thighs hike them up so much.

I plan to jot down these suggested brands and styles, get in a good mood, and try a bunch of them on if I can find them. I think it's worth it to have one or two well fitting pairs of jeans instead of 5 cheaper pairs that don't quite work.

I am not a pear, but hourglasses have the same issue with the waist and the hips. To top it off, we have issues with the bust and the waist too, so double trouble here! You have to try as many brands and styles as you can get until you find the one for you. I have lots of jeans now, but most of them are from MNG. I shop at Spanish shops, so most brands won't be familiar to you, but I can tell you most jeans don't find my waist AND my butt at the same time. Try hard and you'll get there, promise!

I am a pear shape AND petite. Double whammy. I have had great success with the following: Joe's 'Petite Provocateur', Hudson 'Petite' bootcuts, AG cigarette style, Gap 'Perfect Boot' and 'Always Straight', Lucky Brand 'Sweet n Low', Kut from the Kloth 'Petite' styles, and Ann Taylor 'Modern Slim' in petite lengths. Good luck!

Interesting alteration, Susan! Twill tape is not stretchy, right? Does this work because it stops the waistband from stretching out (because the jeans have lycra?)

I've finally resolved this problem for myself. I do like Kut from the Kloth, but I can wear almost any brand with my own alterations. I'm a size 10 hip with a size 8 (or smaller) waist.

I take the back waist in by sewing twill tape inside the waist band on the back of the jeans. I usually apply 6 inches of tape and handsew it to 8 inches of waist band by gathering and easing the waist band fabric to the twill tape. Just do a little running stitch around the edges of the tape and that will hold it in place. This is pretty fast and undetectable from the outside.

I'm hourglass with pear tendencies. My best fitting jeans with no waist gap are Joe's Jeans Honey Cut, Gap curvy, Lucky Brand Classic Rider and Sweet and Straight, and BDG mid rise from Urban Outfitters.

I am an hourglass with pear tendencies. Jeans make me feel gigantic - like the pillsbury dough boy! The stiff fabric and ill fit make me uncomfortable. I buy about one pair of jeans a year in hopes that I will like them, but they end up sitting in my closet. I don't even like to garden in them. I have been buying pants that have a softer, flowing silhouette and fabric. For the "gap" issues, I have the waist tailored or use a wide ribbon (instead of a belt) in the belt loops. I find the ribbon gives a smoother shape under untucked shirts.

I have had trouble with the fit of jeans too (I'm a hourglass with pear tendencies, and I carry most of my width/weight in my lower hip and thigh). Some of the brands I found success with in the past are David Kahn and Kut from the Kloth, and even a pair of Seven for all Mankind. My current favorite brand is Paige, but I also found a pair of Hudsons that fits very nicely, and JBrand as well.

I have to have the waist taken in on many of these, just a bit. It's totally worth the little extra cash to not be hiking my jeans back up my behind all the time!

I think many women of all shapes have trouble with jeans because they need to fit well in so many places. I went shopping for jeans with my partner once and he couldn't believe how difficult it was to find a pair that wasn't too snug in the thighs or flatten the bottom or create the dreaded muffin top. Most of us have been there and felt the frustration. The only thing I can add is that it isn't you, it is the jeans.

Would there be a pear on this earth that doesn't have this problem? I recently found a pair of jeans that fit. It is a German brand, MAC. However, the next pair of the same brand, same size, different length needed a slight alteration in the back. Try and find jeans that fit you great everywhere exept at the back of your waist and have them altered. It was only € 7,-.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Ahem, I am a pear and struggled with jeans a lot before I finally found J Brand jeans. J Brand is not cheap, but I got a pear of wide leg dark wash jeans, a lighter wash flare, cigarettes (consigned), and a black pair of skinnies. If you buy them at Nordstrom you can have them taken in at the waist for free.
Since most denim stretches, I usually buy them, wash them, and then wear them a few times before I take them in to be altered.
It is so worth not dealing with ill fitting jeans. Now that I know the fits I Iike best, I search consignment shops if I need additional pair. Even then it's under $20 to have them altered.

Omg the clicking sound! LMAO i totally know what you're talking about! I think this is a pretty common problem for us pears. If it fits my thighs most times it's too big for my waist. I have much better luck with high waisted jeans with a little bit of stretch. My BDG's from Urban Outfitters fit me like a wonderful, perfect glove.

I have pear tendencies and had success with CH by Cookie Johnson and Paige Premium denim: did not even need to take in the waist and the difference between my waist and hips is pretty big. Kut of the Kloth were a good fit too if other are too expensive for you.

Ok, I'm an apple I think, not a pear, but jeans give me a hard time. They give me heart burn. I've taken to wearing 1) jeggings and 2) only thin thin denim with a little stretch in them.

Pants in general give me a hard time. It's hard to get the waist, hips, backside, rise, length all at the same time.

I'd be happier in skirts... except I'm not.

I can't seem to find a pair of jeans that doesn't make me look like a complete idiot or completely fat. If they make the butt look good, I have muffin top; if they fit everywhere else, the crotch is sooooo long and it makes a clicking sound when I walk.

I thought I had finally found a pair that fit, only to find that when I pull them up high enough to stop the clicking noise, I had a giant gap around the waist and had to put on a belt, which made it look like I had a random fat roll under my shirt.

I think I'm giving up on jeans. Never liked them a whole lot anyway, I only wear them because I'm too lazy to shave my legs all the time.

Anyone else have this problem? Did you ever find a pair of jeans that actually fits? Or did you just give up?
