I would love to see that start up... I don't currently have enough reliable pieces to play but I love me some monkey see monkey do -- it's how I learn!!

I think it'd be fun to do a one-time challenge like some that Ornella sets for herself--i.e. show a pic or describe a place you love and then dress in a way that somehow reflects it.

If I remember, the challenge chain took several months to play out. Because the holidays are coming up when many people are distracted or traveling, maybe a short-term challenge would be easier -- like the day- or week-long challenges where everyone plays at once?

I wasn't around for the last bout of challenges and don't know how they played out, but I do believe simple and fun should be the name of the game here. The way I envision it, we're just trying to push people to get a bit creative, not create some sort of insurmountable task.
Viva, I remember you, and of course it's for better that you participate more. :)
Your reply

If they were simpler and less time sensitive, I might do it. But to be honest, they became so complex that I was completely daunted. If they are still at that level, I'll be more than happy to watch from the sidelines.

I realize some of you may be saying, who the heck is Viva? And why should we care about her opinion? Well, my work-intensive period is beginning to wane, so you'll be seeing more of me. For better or worse.

I have taken myself out of the challenge for a myriad of reasons. Feel free to resurrect it though. Fun.

FWIW, I do feel that the challenges became too complicated as the chain continued. May I suggest keeping the challenges simpler and less time intensive.

Suz, I was thinking the exact same thing! If Angie got challenged, I also missed it. Hmmmmm,,,,,,

Michelle, Angie agreed to play last time if she could go last. And it was just the spring that we played. Well, that I played, we prob started after Christmas. I have no idea if that's too soon for people or not. But like Suz, I enjoyed it and would play again.

We did play it not too long ago, Michelle, and April headed it up. I'm not sure we ever finished the chain because, if I am not mistaken, ANGIE had yet to be challenged. (Unless I somehow missed that.)

Having said that, I love the challenge chain and I would be completely game to jump in again! :)

So I've been noticing that a lot of the forum traffic, including mine, involves people settling into their wardrobes for their given seasons. In most cases now I suspect we have our outfit building blocks in place for the next few months.
I've also noticed a lot of people doing some pretty intense analysis, sometimes approaching soul-searching, about their clothing choices, their wardrobe makeup, and what it says about them.
In the spirit of putting a more light-hearted spin on these questions, and of course in keeping with Angie's one and only rule, I was wondering if it's time to resurrect the YLF Challenge Chain game?
For those who aren't familiar with this, it was a game that cropped up about once a year on the forum a little while back. No clue if it continued in my absence. Basically we'd express our interest in playing and then be sorted into brackets if numbers got unwieldy. For the sake of illustration, though, let's say 12 people signed up and I was the first in line.

In this case, I would use a random number generator to pick a number for me. I would then challenge the person who equated to that number on our list.
So, for example, let's say the generator pulled up no. 8, which happened to be Angie. My task would then be to challenge Angie to put together an outfit that would force her to push her style envelope in some way.
In her case I could challenge her to put together an outfit that made her feel terrific without using any white. Or to find a way to make a body-con clothing silhouette look modern in this season of fluidity. Or to create an ensemble inspired by her home country of the Netherlands. Or to see how high of a heel height she could get away with during a typical work day while still feeling good. The possibilities are endless.
Once Angie has completed this hypothetical challenge, she would then run the generator, get for instance the number 3, who this time would be Reva. She would challenge Reva to look not cute for five seconds, and so on. Full disclosure: Reva would totally bomb that challenge. :)

It's entirely possible that this game got played out recently and wrapped up the day before I returned, in which case just say so. But I thought I'd see if there was any interest in reviving it to help people get on top of their latest purchases, take a break from overthinking their closets, or just for a lark.

Weigh in below, guys! If there's interest, I'm happy to organize the brackets.
Your post
