I'd recommend selling them on eBay or giving them to someone who wants them. I'm a huge fragrance enthusiast so I keep minis of things as a reference - even some I don't really like that way I can get a gist of what someone is talking about on a fragrance forum. If you want to swap Makeup alley closed swapping , Fragrantica has a swap board and the Perfume Posse has a monthly perfume fairy godmother where people offer or ask for scents. Hope this helps!

I love perfumes, and have many (current faves are Jasmin 19 and Dries van Noten) but I'm not to the point where I have to get rid of anything.

I used to be more of a perfume collector than I am now. I have tons of the small sample vials that I purchased from various places already mentioned above. I happily give them away to people if the are interested. I might have 20 larger bottles, but only 2-3 that I consider personal favorites, and interestingly, they are not particularly obscure, expensive or fancy. However whenever I wear them they just work right and if people are around me they tell me I smell nice, but not in an obnoxious, you're wearing too much perfume way.

I used to read all the blogs and be fascinated by learning about the notes. I discovered that the perfumes that work well for me have some commonality, so I know what to look for in the future if they are discontinued. That made it well worthwhile for me.

Swap them on Makeup Alley perfume forum!

I am a perfume enthusiast--my collection is ridiculous. I will never be able to finish all these full bottles, but just to know I can spritz them whenever I want, to remember something, or to evoke a mood, is so comforting.

I haven't really been on the hunt for anything special these days in perfume because my six main standbys pretty much satisfy me.

I'm always a bit nervous to wear perfumes these days, because many of the places I go are places where people gather, and it seems like allergies are becoming an increasingly big issue, unfortunately. But as far as how to dispose of old perfumes -- can't you just put them down the sink and recycle the bottles? Assuming no one else wants them, that is. I didn't think they were particularly toxic (at least, I hope not, because we put them on our skin). I could be totally wrong, of course.
:-)

I admit to being a bit of a fragrance nut, and can tell you that I'm not alone. You shouldn't have any trouble selling or trading your extras, especially if they are vintage. Many perfume lovers are wary of Ebay now, as fakes are common there, but you might try sites like the Perfumed Court, Now Smell This, and others. I've found many vintage perfumes in thrift shops & yard sales; some I've kept, others I've given away to friends who would appreciate them. (It's especially nice to be able to give someone the true vintage formulation of her favorite, now altered, scent.) Before you get rid of any fragrances, though, I urge you to give them one more sniff. Sometimes scents you find dull or oppressive one day can come alive on your skin months or years later, and suddenly you get what the fuss was about!

It's a small hobby of mine. And a weird one...I get much more interested in reading about it than in actually wearing it. I'm not very knowledgeable and I'm decidedly not a "nose", I just love to read about the ingredients and different notes. My favorite thing to collect is the tiny bottles in the shapes of the full sized ones.

Anyway, today I did some organizing and purging. So the question is...what to do with old perfumes I don't want anymore. Nothing valuable except maybe one, mostly just things that didn't suit me and are past their best years. Is there a good way to dispose of them?
