I recently tried a bunch of bootcuts at Nordstrom just to have an idea and I liked the fit of 7s the best. I think rectangles come in different shapes and you probably will still have to try on a zillion, but Nordstrom sales people are quite helpful about finding the fit. For example they brought me a Paige pair that fit very well, they had higher rise than usual. Both pair I got also have a medium/high rise.
