Gabi, yesterday I posted my outfit with very brightly colored tights:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....thats-bold

They are in a very bold pairing, but it's another idea of how to liven up tights and break out of the black tights rut.

Gabi, are you talking about tights with a colorful print http://www.mytights.com/us/fas.....ights.html, or a "pattern" that's more of a texture http://www.mytights.com/us/tig.....tight.html?

I'm a big fan of textured tights, but not of brightly-colored patterns. To me, they look really young, and since I'm not really young but am pretty short, I think colorful tights give me a "Baby Jane" vibe.

I think it depends on whether you're looking for tights to be part of an ensemble, or whether you want them to be the star of a one-woman show.

start with basic black with a small pattern, maybe small dots or stripes. once you are comfortable with wearing them, start to experiment with bolder patterns and colors.

i love mixing textured tights with my denim pencil skirt, black knit skirts, and a basic gray knit dress...it makes them more interesting

I wear printed tights all the time and suggest the same as Elisabeth and Zapotee. I often try to match something in the pattern of the tights to the pattern in the outfit if the color isn't a match. If the color is a match, then I go a little wilder with the pattern. I've found that the patterns I get the most wear from a ribbed or subtly textured. However, an argyle type one in black has been a surprise favorite of mine too.

When the weather cools down this week, I'm busting out a new outfit with a bold tight. I'm going to wear a navy dot shift dress with mustard yellow tights, black shoes and a bright blue cardigan. I saw the combo in Boden and it looked fantastic. Wish me luck and look for it as a WIW later this week!

I wear boldly patterned tights sometimes, and when I do, I make the tights the focus of the outfit. I keep the rest of it -- the skirt and top -- in a solid, neutral colour.

I completely disregard the pattern and used them just as plain hose. I don't even try to match it to anything. More fun that way!

I go to school in San Francisco and I wear tights probably three to four days a week but I'm getting tired of plain black ones. I'm thinking of buying some patterned or colored ones but I have no clue how to style them. Does anyone who wears (or knows someone who does) patterned/colored tights have any suggestions?
