Firecracker I think I know what you mean about pairing tops with denim...if the top color is close to the denim blue but not "harmonious" then it looks off, while if it's not so close (like orange, red etc) it usually looks ok. Assuming I'm understanding you correctly, I totally agree.

RobinF yep, that's the way I felt. I haven't returned the sweater yet but have mentally moved on...:-)

Love that sweater, but I agree grays can be difficult sometimes. The tees are cute too.

Those are really cute tees. I love the prints on them! Too bad about the cowl neck top, but I get what you're saying. I feel similarly about certain blue-ish tops with certain blue jeans--they just look too clashing to my eye, although when pairing with most other colors, I effectively overlook the color of the denim.

Barbara Diane, yes it’s pretty interesting isn't it? Choosing two l. different models makes the two tops look quite different.

Suz, yes, you’ve described it quite accurately, thanks! I didn’t quite see it but now I do. The “grey” sweater is more of a blue/grey in person, but yo are absolutely right.

Style Fan, yes you are right about online shopping. I don’t think I would have chosen these tops online,
but when I saw them in the store I just had to try them on. I do agree that
grey can be tricky to match, I wear it a lot and it got a lot easier once I
figured out that there are brownish/warm greys and blueish/cool greys and they do NOT go well together although I love both of them. There are probably greys with other undertones but I tend tos tik with the brown or blue ones.

Unfrumped, great description of that “goes with everything” thing. I too have had quite a few wardrobe orphans that just didn’t look right with anything. Angie’s advice about creating outfits at home before cutting tags on a new item is spot-on.

Thanks for the review.
Just wanted to Echo that although" goes with jeans" is ALMOST universal, sometimes it's not and also I've had that same experience of something not quite right even with black- often a top I really like but then find for some reason it " wants"'a certain color or fabric to come alive and I don't have that item.
I've gotten better about avoiding orphan items like that, but it's good to hear how you dealt with it also.

Interesting what Suz says about the models' shoulders. Another reason I find online shopping so difficult.
The Ts are very pretty. Gray is a colour I never wear. I often hear other fabbers say it is difficult to colour match. Strange. I would have thought it was easy.

What Barbara Diane said about the tops and the fit -- it has to do with the shape of the models' shoulders. One has square shoulders and one has sloping shoulders.

I really like the sweater but I can imagine the problem. Greys can be tricky for sure. They're easier in general for me now with my grey hair. I do think this could potentially look great with white bottoms.

Cute picks. I'm amazed that the shirts have identical fit. Looking at the models, especially their shoulders, explains the difference. That's good to know.

I thought I’d review a few items I bought recently on a visit to Antropologie. I have been causally looking for summer tops as things
are marked down, and found these two which I really like. The fits look a little different in the finds but they are exactly the same just in two different prints. I love the purple one with my Anthro pilcro faded olive chinos (the find is not the olive color), and the black & white one will got with a lot. It’s an oversized style and I ended up buying an XS, which is almost a tunic on me (I’m 5’ 1”). I might even put a tank under it because the armholes are large. I’ve only worn the purple one but was not near a full length mirror so no pics yet. It looks like the purple one is sold out online.

The sweater was one I had collected as a find and then saw in the store. The fabric is very soft and would be warm for colder weather, and I love the print and the grey/blue color. However, when I got it home I found the color just did not work with ANY of my jeans, it was just off somehow. I have a low affinity for color mixing and am very picky about how similar colors go together. It worked with black but only because everything works with black, not because it was perfect with black. Maybe it would work with cream color pants but I don’t feel like looking for some right now. So it’s going back. It does come in some other colors that I didn't like as much, so maybe it will be right for some of you.
