I think that to do menswear with sass you have to up the traditional menswear components, not de-emphasize them. That’s not my thing, so the only ideas I can think of are a fedora (ha! No, not what you want) and cuff links, which can be menswear and pretty at the same time. If you follow the style, I bet you can come up with much better accessories/accents for that. </p> <p>I haven’t read the other comments, but before you cut off that flowing tail, take a look at the outfit suggestions for striped maxi shirts from a few weeks ago. I don’t think the whole outfit has to be floating and flowing to include a long, flowing shirttail. Idk how flowing it is, but the long striped shirt in my recent WiW got more compliments than anything else, and I had it on with slim-fitting pants and a tank top that fit in the conventional way. </p> <p>Besides, it sounds like you like the shirt the way it is. Go with it!</p> <p>ETA: read the comments, love Gretchen’s idea with the cami. Do you have a silky one or a shell in one of the colors of the stripes? I had a white shirt sort of like this but it didn't button all the way down (so more of a tunic style) and the neckline was too wide so it always felt sloppy. Every button-down shirt I've ever owned or tried on, whether regular or petite, fitted or loose, has had some amount of gaping, so I always have safety pins&nbsp;in my closet and pin the&nbsp;gaping area from&nbsp;the back. It’s a soft gauzy fabric with grey pinstripes&nbsp;and a pattern of little tiny sequins. Cindysmith’s recent posting about fit<br /> issues with shirts gave me some things to consider. There is nothing in the&nbsp;description to indicate this, but the shirt is <b>very oversized</b>. An XS fit me&nbsp;well (I typically wear a 10/12P size in tops) except that it’s too long, and&nbsp;the sleeves are &nbsp;loose enough that I can&nbsp;fold them up easily unlike many shirts I try where the sleeves are too tight. </p> <p><b>Pros</b></p> <p>I really like it. I am not so fond of button down shirts in&nbsp;stiffer fabrics but like them in softer flowy ones like this one. I generally&nbsp;prefer the classic shirt style over more modern shapes with bell sleeves etc. </p> <p>The fit is quite good, I’ll have to shorten the hem but&nbsp;that’s easy enough.</p> <p>After my trip to Albuquerque last May I wanted to get a&nbsp;couple more light colored gauzy summer shirts for hot days when I want to be&nbsp;covered up – this is the first one I’ve found that checks all the boxes</p> <p>Anthro quality is consistently good, the pieces I’ve bought&nbsp;from there always last a long time.&nbsp;</p> <p>It will work for fall under sweaters. </p> <p>It was about ¼ of the original price at end of summer sale </p> <p>I could see wearing it with a flowy skirt (like Angie’s midi&nbsp;skirt posting today), although I don’t own one and don’t feel inspired to look&nbsp;for one right now. &nbsp;</p> <p><b>Cons</b></p> <p>I have to think carefully about styling this so it stays&nbsp;reasonably modern looking and not super menswear-ish. That could be tricky because a pinstriped button down shirt is inherently menswear-ish.&nbsp;. </p> <p><b>Outfit creation lab</b></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>With Jeans and red&nbsp;loafers, showing the original fit. </li> <li>Same outfit, with a&nbsp;half-baked attempt at what it will look like shortened.</li> <li>….with a waist-tie styling on the shirt…this would work with white jeans too. </li> <li>…add light blue moto</li> <li>Switch to darker jeans and&nbsp;grey booties. Like this outfit better - jeans are more flattering&nbsp;and less contrast with shoes&nbsp;</li> <li>Just the shirt, tucked&nbsp;into the darker jeans. Don't like the tucked look,&nbsp;much better to go with the waist tie or leave it untucked</li> <li>With a lightweight burgundy cardigan, silver necklace. I need to add a cami once it cools off enough to dress like this. </li> <li>This last look is very&nbsp;classic, with a &nbsp;gorgeous Theory cashmere<br /> vneck I just found at&nbsp; TJmaxx.&nbsp; All the pieces are very nice quality and fit&nbsp;well, and there is a part of me that loves this look, but it's more&nbsp;about loving the pieces than the outfit. I am not liking such classic menswear looks as much as I used to and want to go with&nbsp;more artistic/modern ones.&nbsp;I may keep the sweater&nbsp;but &nbsp;not wear this shirt under it. </li> </ul> <p>Would love to hear any and all suggestions, thanks in advance1</p>
