Maybe I'm sentimentally attached, but I wore denim all the time as a kid - shorts in spring/summer/fall, jeans in winter, and jumpers all the time when I could get away with it. No faith reasons for that - denim was practical, and indigo set off just about any color shirt I paired it with. I had one particular jumper, with a V-neck and flared skirt, and lots of side buttons. I was so sad when I outgrew it.</p> <p><i>Anyway,</i> her post reminded me that I tried on this denim dress when I stopped in Anthropologie last week. It definitely didn't work for me, which was good because I saved a nice chunk of change I didn't need to be spending; but I'm disappointed because it was really cute! I don't know if this will be helpful to anyone, but, my review:</p> <p>The denim is a great medium color, kind of cornflower blue. The material is lightweight and very soft, but not thin. I wanted yardage to make my own version!</p> <p>It's truly high-waisted. I am as tall as the model, not long-waisted, and the flare of the skirt started 1-2" above my waist. My hips looked crazy long as well as wide.</p> <p>I tried on a 6 and a 4. The 6 fit well, but wasn't fitted enough in the waist for me. Personal preference. The 4 was slightly snug in the waist and WAY too tight in the bust. </p> <p>Personal preference: The neckline was quite low. I'm not *that* busty - right on or less than the size chart - and there was quite too much cleavage for comfort. The armhole also showed my bra. (But that could definitely be my bra's fault!)</p> <p>Verdict:&nbsp; This dress is not as fitted in the waist as it looks, so it can fit a lot of bodies. It might look funny on anyone taller (I'm 5'9"), but I also have a lot of hip. There's a lot of flare to the skirt that will either create the look of hips or just drape nicely over the hips you've got. I think it's a great base layer that can go in a lot of different directions with footwear, toppers, and accessories. </p>
