I think you tend towards an inverted triangle, Shiny, just like Sarah.

Cedar, you look hourglass-y, but I can’t really tell from the pics because your arms aren’t by your sides. It’s important to understand that you can tend towards a few body types, and that each body type has various “sub categories”. You can be hourglass-y with a little extra around the middle, which means follow rules of the apple body type as well. If you’re a little heavier around the thighs, incorporate aspects from the pear shape body type. If you have a strong shoulder line, adapt aspects from the inverted triangle body type. Hourglasses are not created equally. I’m a straight, slim hourglass with a defined waist and few curves. I therefore adapt aspects from the rectangular body type to add curvature to my physique. Hope that makes sense.

ps how about "bottom"

The shoulder measurement is all the way around, right??

I'm going to say you're an hourglass, but with a well defined butt.

The reason I say that is because I'm an hourglass at 33-26-high hip about 31-widest hip 33. Shoulders, if I measure all the way around (like a shawl), came out to 39-40 inches. If I measure my shoulders just in front, it's more like 16, which is more or less same as hip. (I guess the extra inches are from upper arm flab.)

The measurement for widest part of hip always catches in a bit of butt muscle in there. So you can have narrow hips, yet a well defined butt, and it'll show up in that particular measurement.

My butt is kinda flat, since my chosen exercise is running, which doesn't give you much of a "booty." If I was doing lunges and stuff, I would have just a bit more here... but not much.

If you don't think you have much of a "booty" then I'd don't know...

(gosh I hate that term, but I don't know how else to describe!)

80% of the time, I wear the same size on top and bottom, altho there's a few brands (Odille comes to mind, and I think J Crew) where I have to go up a size in the top.

So's I found some recent pictures on my flickr account--they're not ideal, 'cause I'm standing at funny angles, or it's cropped, but hopefully that'll help

You're probably a strong-shouldered hourglass. I think hourglasses are the most common body type, even though Angie says it's the pear. But hourglasses are definitely the majority on this forum, even though they actually don't look anything alike. I think the definition of an hourglass is a lot more flexible than the definition of a pear/apple/rectangle/inverted triangle, so more women seem to fit it even if they really don't look the same.

I'm willing to guess you're an hourglass because your measurements sound similar to other hourglasses here.

Hmm...it's harder to tell without a picture, but I'd say you're probably an hourglass with strong shoulders. You might have been an adorable apple before, if you notice the most reduction in your stomach/waist area by working out. It might be that you just had padded out your waist, so it seemed like you were a rectangle, when really you were a small apple. Does this make sense? All this is speculation though without a photo. I'm sure some other ladies on here will chime in with their opinions as well.

For years I thought I was a classic rectangle, but I've started working out recently, and my waist has become much more defined. In addition, my shoulders have gotten a much more squareish shape, and certain styles that used to look nice on me (flutter or lantern sleeves) now look terrible on me.

Unfortunately, my camera is broken. Here are my body measurements:

I'm 5'4''. My shoulders are 38'' My bust is 34. My waist is 27. My high hip is 33, and my hip at the widest is 36.
