What Denise, we're not allowed to tuck our pants into booties?! Uh oh.

Vicki, it's an interesting concept for sure, although I would think it also depends on the width of the pants etc... That hair styling trick is hilarious.

Thanks Vicki! there is a lot more to this cuffing thing than it appears. Who knew! It's great to learn these little tricks.

I am laughing because I have just now learned that it is not ok to tuck your jeans into your booties, or to pull your jeans over your booties. Which I do all the time, as often as rolling. According to Babble sponsored by Disney. I feel like such a rule breaker! Better than feeling like I'm not with it. ;-)

Lovely comments, ladies, and I say "roll away" and have fun with it, right? Runcarla, check out Deb's piece with the video and you'll be just fine, no matter how you roll, although I recall they do like a little skin showing. :)

I love a rolled cuff. It solved my problem of not having any PPL trousers in my closet! (Just couldn't get the inseam length.) Rolled cuffs and pointy toed flats have become a signiture style. Now I have a wonderful pair of high shaft Chelsea boots and I'm wondering if I can continue with the rolled pants hem trend?

That's a great idea. Now all I need are the ankle strap shoes! It's informative, anyway, even if I can't put it into practice at the moment.

Yes, I totally agree with cuff size relating to strap size.....and to body size. Proportion and balance are so important to the eye in many areas of design. I notice and love it when others fully understand this aspect of design.
Tucking our lovely locks for warmth is something I do a lot when outside in cold weather....it is surprising how warm our hair keeps us.

This is really interesting. It's a matter of proportion. I think it's quite helpful, actually -- or potentially, at any rate, LOL.

Interesting! I'll have to experiment with different shoes and cuffs to see if I agree or not. When my hair was long, I could never have it inside my collar as it would be too itchy.

I am not sure this would work for me, Vicki. I do not wear strappy shoes so I would get too confused. And putting my hair inside my sweater collar would drive me nuts. Inside my coat, yes.

Interesting! The only shoes I have with straps are sandals. They have thin straps so I'll have to play around with thin cuffs next Spring. I can't believe I only started cuffing late last Summer. Always late to the party, lol! Thanks for the links.

That's interesting, thanks for sharing it. I don't know if I agree with InStyle's cuffing rule exactly, but I like that it makes the choice of cuff width deliberate.

My sister recently gave me a few magazine to read and I've got three more to go ("Elle," "More" and one other). But, when I read Deb's post here about Carole's link on Inge's "Link Love" about how to cuff your jeans when wearing ankle boots:

http://youlookfab.com/2014/11/.....d-weather/

I found an article on pumps and cage heels and sandals (see photo 1). It seems "how to cuff" is a topic with lots of opinions and it can go wrong or, at least, not quite right, at times.

This very brief article on styling tricks in "InStyle" suggests mirroring your cuff according to the width of the straps on your sandals or heels and using your footwear as a guide. I'm not sure I'm in total agreement here, and I don't really have a variety of strappy shoes in different widths, so I'm passing it along for you to play with when the weather warms up and gets a bit drier, as these are warm weather shoes.

I do think Deb's post of Carole's link is more in line with what I'll be doing with my cuffs.

Then, when you're done with the cuffs, and since the weather is cold, you may want to try the next "styling trick" of putting your long hair inside your funnel-neck or turtleneck sweater!
