Alecia - I share your frustration. I have a lot of problems with jeans, due to big thighs. I did buy a pair of DKNY skinny jeans in black denim, and I like them a lot. They were on sale at Macy's a while ago. They are good tucked into boots and don't really wrinkle. I'm not sure why.

But honestly - I have pretty much given up on jeans right now! I have not found any dark wash bootcuts that have a high enough rise for me. The COH Elsons, which most people love, didn't quite work for me (a little too short in the rise.) The jeans I have found that fit me fairly well are cheaper, and they always bag out after a few wearings. It's very frustrating. I'm hoping to lose a few more pounds - I know jeans fit me better when I'm thinner. I know you're not supposed to do that - you're supposed to shop for the body you have now - but I just can't deal with the jeans thing anymore!

No thoughts on the knee wrinkling? I may be overly cautious but it seemed kind of like I had bunching at the knees. I only took a picture on my phone and you can't make that out in such a small sized photo.

Anyway, I'm thinking I'll get the Mias given the price difference. I am feeling kind of frustrated style-wise lately. It's mostly because I want to quickly incorporate all the things I'm learning here, but my budget and time to shop don't keep pace with my interest. The Mias will allow me to get an infusion of a new style fix but at a better price point for my budget and will help me continue to save for my jcrew suit. Though I am inclined to buy more casual wear, I could really use some more clothes to wear to work.

Thanks for the input.

Alecia, I am an hourglass, tending toward pear, and I own Mias and was very happy with them. Just don't crawl around on the floor (okay, I wouldn't usually do that except that I have a toddler!) because the dye rubbed off the knees :(

Until that unfortunate incident, I loved them! I also own COH Elsons and they work great.

Hi Alecia, I personally have the Mias and like them. I'm an hourglass and almost always have the waistband taken in when I buy jeans (and denim skirts); it's no big deal at all and works great.

Hi Alecia, I actually have a couple of different Rich&Skinny skinnies and absolutely adore them. Some are so called "High" model and others are called "Sleek". I almost always have to take the waistband in on my jeans, it's a sad reality. My waist/hip ratio is too small to fit anything higher waisted of the rack, and I do not like lower waisted things. I would recommend wearing them for a full day first before bringing them to the tailor, since the waist band will stretch some more during the day.

I don't exactly know what you mean by wrinkles at the knees, but I would think that some are unavoidable considering that the skinnies are hugging the knees and that the knees bend as you walk.

I haven't tried these yet, but supposedly J Brand has a new fit for us curvy ladies called 'Scarlet", here's an example:

http://www.shopbop.com/blue-la.....shopbysize

The prospect of $150 jeans plus tailoring the waistband is almost too much for me. It certainly would have been inconceivable a year ago.

Do you know the style of R&S jeans that you tried? The High jeans fit me very well (I actually think they're the best fitting pair of jeans I own), but they are straight.

I did not like the Mias personally so if those fit you well I probably don't have much to offer. I think Tanya would be the person to ask since she is an hourglass and she has found a lot of skinnies.

You could always have the waistband taken in.

So tonight I went out trying on skinnies. They are one of the things that is on my list. Of course, by the time I figure it out, they'll probably be passe. But whatever...I tried on the Express Mias, some Rich & Skinny, Rock & Republic, Citizens of Humanity Ana (but they didn't have the Elson), and David Kahn. So far, I think Rich & Skinny and the Mias are in the lead but I have a question. Do those of you that have skinnies get wrinkles at the knee?

Another frustrating thing was that to get pants that fit my hips & thighs, the waistband was kind of loose. (Not as much of a problem with the Mias, interestingly.) Anyone have particular tips on skinnies for hourglass?

Thanks everyone!
