And it also helps to REALLY look at or try on each piece as I'm doing one of my sweeps. I have never been a clothes hoarder and I've always (in the last 10 years anyway) done seasonal purges. But too often I would just skip over certain items, thinking 'that's fine.' But actually seeing all those empty cells on my spreadsheet means it must NOT be fine because I'm not wearing it! Or maybe fine just isn't good enough anymore...</p> <p>Carter, maybe you just need to leave everything in the guest rooms for several weeks or a couple of months and whatever's left that you didn't reclaim can go! It wasn't exactly like for like but kind of...a nicer knit in a pretty color that can replace one that's a bit worn and a white knit to replace an older white one. One of the VC skirts is similar to a skirt that I've worn a lot but it's a little shorter than I prefer so that one might get demoted to casual only wear and the midi can become the office skirt. </p> <p>And I finally found navy shoes! They are sandals so just a summer option but that's at least 3 and maybe 4 more months of wear this year. And I am letting go of a pair of purple/black snakeskin sandals to make room. </p> <p>Ok, NOW no more buying until NAS when hopefully Angie shows some nice cognac bags and shoes! In total, I culled at least&nbsp;20 pieces. While I only purged one pair of shoes, I have a number of them "on probation," meaning if I don't wear them over the next couple of months, they will be purged too. As will a few more knit tops.</p> <p>Now the net reduction isn't 20 because I added 2 new VC tube skirts and a couple of knit tops...but I DID reduce. (And&nbsp;I had already blown it for just say no June!)</p>
