I have ultra fine hair, but mine is too healthy to do a pixie--I have like the heaviest fine hair in the world and it hangs in a curtain on me. My hair is really like a sheet of silk so even with product it has no volume. If you want to go longer, I would go for a short shag (keep the bangs similar to a pixie with short layers) and then a flippy/pieced bottom at jaw/chin length.
