We are reading each other's minds. I don't know whther I'll wear this coat a lot, but it will certainly give a huge boost to my outfits when I do wear it, much like your gillet last year. </p> <p>Aquamarine you are right, this certainly is not my only coat, in fact it will only work in fall but is nowhere near warm enough for true winter. After reading the differences of opinion I took more photos and some measurements. #1 is the L, #2 is the PL, and #3 is the PL open. The only differences in the measurements are overall length and sleeve length, which are both 1” shorter in the petite. The shoulder seam lengths are exactly the same in the two sizes, as is the placement of the waist snaps. This is the usual shortcut vendors take when making petite sizes…just shorten the sleeves and hem and that’s good enough (so they think) . I think the differences in the original photos may have been caused by what I was wearing underneath or how I was standing plus the lapels on the petite are a bit wrinkled. </p> <p> The PL is the size that fits the best, although I’d probably want to move the snaps just a bit for more ease. With a more structured “regular” coat I often unbutton the bottom button when I’m driving (or otherwise sitting) and it works fine because the coat stays closed otherwise, but on this coat if I unsnapped it I’d be wearing it open. </p> <p> After reading the comments on Style Fan’s posting about this same coat, I’m thinking she’s right, it’s quite unstructured. The body is a wool blend, kind of like a lightweight version of boiled wool, and the sleeves are essentially sweater sleeves. As Jaileen commented it’s shown open in most of the photos on the Nordstrom site.  So overall it reads as much like a long sweater that happens to have a woven body as like a coat.. Lisa p this may be why you thought it was “not me”…I don’t find long cardigans that flattering on my pear shaped body and do not wear them.  THis coat does have a bit of shaping to the body. </p> <p>I’m still on the fence and will ponder it a bit longer. Photo 1 is PL which fits well but is just a little snug across the hips when I sit down. There is no larger petite size. The closure is two large snaps that would be simple to move a little. The collar is also hanging oddly but steaming would fix that. Photo 2 is the L that I tried on in store last week and will return. The petite is definitely a better fit on 5'1" me, slightly shorter hem and sleeves. I don't have time to put together outfits today and take some better pics so will do that tomorrow. So far so good but I need to be very thoughtful about the idea of moving the snaps.</p> <p>At Angie's suggestion n copying the new photos up to the top of this posting. </p>
