Go ahead, Amy. I certainly like this new version much better than the very blonde one.

That is interesting about the vitamin D, Joy. My blonder sister has been very careful about the sun since she was in her early 20s. She is allergic to sunscreen, so covers up when she is outside. My other sister is very athletic and had done a lot of outdoor activities such as skiing, biking and running, so that could be the case. I try to be careful with the sun, but being a gardening nut, certainly get plenty of rays even though I usually remember sunscreen.

Definitely an interesting process--I do feel like I duped myself over the years.I could have saved a lot of money if I'd waited longer before coloring it.

Your natural color actually looks like a light ash brown. Not much grey at all, and darker and cooler than what you have now. That will be really pretty I'm sure. Maybe there are rinses you can put on the colored part of your hair to darken it slightly or get it closer in tone to what is growing out at your roots.

I don't know, but a deeper color than the blonde looks like it could be very flattering with your eye color. See how it goes. You may discover a great new "you" color there.

I love your hair color! It will probably continue to change, even when mostly grey. My "grey" was taupe for many years, then decided to be more silver. Some studies, I've heard, connect grey hair with vitamin D. Taking supplements can darken hair. I have a rather severe vitamin D deficiency according to my last check up. Possibly that accounts for the whiter hair. I don't know. Just throwing that out there. Maybe your sisters have really good D levels

It has now been 15+ weeks since I last had my roots colored to cover the gray. My hairdresser put in lots of highlights and a few low lights to blend in new growth, which was about 1 1/2".

Yikes--I'm not going to have Helen Mirren silvery locks! Except for some on the crown and a little at the temples, my hair isn't growing in all that gray. It is surprisingly dark and isn't quite the color I had before I started. This week we talked it over and I asked her to put in more low lights to blend in the dark.

I have two sisters, one a few years older and the other a few years younger. They were both blue-eyed blondes, but when we met up recently, they both had darker hair with no hint of gray. I thought they colored it, but they both said, nope, never had any gray hair at all. My very blonde sister's hair is a darker blonde, and I almost told my other sister that I thought she should use a lighter color--her current shade looks a little harsh with her light skin. Glad I minded my own business.

I definitely want to go natural, whatever that might be. The last session blended the demarkation line between too light and the dark, but I don't want to keep highlighting forever. I thought a year or two would take care of the transition. I do like the darker highlights better.

So here I am pulling up my hair to show the new blend. Any words of advice what to do next are welcome.
