Ah ha! Got it. Thanks. The model completely pulls it off with the rest of the outfit. Give it a bash, Marianne. You are tall and willowy luck a model.

Angie, you can see their catalogs online on their web site - at the bottom there is a "Browse catalog" link. This particular one is here:
http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/c.....38;index=1

Thanks Patience! You're right about the type of oxfords. I am not ready to invest into a pair like that just for the sake of trying the 'look', but I'm going to dig out my old oxfords that are a lot like men's shoes and try them. They don't have spectator styling or any other detailing so it might not work. I agree about more streamlined oxfords with skirts - I would absolutely go for it if my ankles were more shapely.

Marianne, I had to go straight away and look at the catalog. (There's also another picture on page 22 with flat oxfords and socks.) So I think it's definitely a look. And I think you could pull it off because you are tall. Looking at those particular shoes, they seem to have a more prominent sole than some of the other styles I've seen. I also think that if you are going to do this look it really helps to go very fancy on the detailing of the shoe as the jcrew one is-- with all of the spectator seaming (that's what I'm going to call it). So, I do think there is something to a look that involves snazzy flat oxfords and ultra skinnies that hit at the ankle. I keep trying mine with jeans every now and then. I think my eye is adjusting a bit but my oxfords are very streamlined so I'm still preferring them with skirts and pants with pumps.

Since this is a potential "look" I do think you have be risky about it. Hence the ultra skinny jeans and over styled oxfords. If you're conservative about it then it won't work.

There have been many discussions about flat oxfords lately. I personally like this type of shoe and used to wear them a lot in the past, and I am still interested in them. In the latest J Crew catalog, a model is wearing men's oxfords with skinny jeans (page 16-17, it's also online but I can't provide direct link). What do you think about this look? Would it be a yay or nay?
