I'm always in awe of a good capsule and this is one. I'd love to see the floral jacket with the dot blouse. I think as your lifestyle is evolving you can add more elements to this. A good dark suit is always good to have (legal and funereal events) and it makes you feel good and looks great.

Deborah - the jacket is a blue/grey, black & white. I think it works well with black, blue & grey which makes it very useful in my wardrobe. A lot of these pieces were bought before I retired & I keep them because I still wear them, usually as separates, albeit less often. I probably wouldn't buy any of them again except the blue Armani suit - I feel really great every time I wear it & the colour is so much better than black on me.
rae & missvee - thanks for your thoughts, I see what you mean about variety.
Ingunn - The feeling I had when trying all these pieces on was this is too much. These are not the clothes I wear everyday & I felt that I could keep the blue suit & the x2 pants, one day, one evening, & I would have to have something to wear for all the times I would wear these pieces. So this translated into when I replace these items I would prefer one top quality suit - I don't need the variety. I don't feel as minimalist with my everyday clothes or with my shoes, bag or accessories yet. I prefer dressier pieces too - I don't see it as a problem as long as I can wear the pieces in my real life.
Thanks Glory - looks like the jacket is a keeper:)
Henley & cheryl these are my style words: comfortable, androgynous, organic, creative & urban this post explains my rationale:
http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ost-743412
RunnerRae thanks for your comments, yes needs/wants is the biggie for me out of all this.
Mo - ah! this is what I'm trying to find out about myself - where do I stand on the minimalist/maximalist continuum? I do feel that making the capsules has been very helpful. If nothing else I've realised that I would rather have a small number of excellent pieces than a wardrobe full of so-so pieces but I've also realised I do tend to buy & wear different "looks" depending on my mood so I need to have these two opposing things make peace! I also realise shopping is some kind of creative outlet for me too - so I may need to channel this creativity somewhere less costly.

I also really admire the work and thought that goes into this capsule making. Do you find you are satisfied with the results? In other words, does 30 outfits of similar pieces totally work for you and no need to shop for more? I suppose this question separates the minimalists from the variety seekers lol.

I really love your capsule. It definitely makes you realize how much we actually need. This one you've put together works very well, is well thought out and co-ordinating, and looks chic! Pretty perfect to me!

I love all of these capsules you are coming up with. I also like the floral jacket, just a bit of fun thrown in. I too would like to hear your style words and where you think your style might be headed. Great job!

I'd be curious to learn what your style words are to see how the floral jacket fits in. It's pretty, but style-wise it seems to be an outlier.

I think the floral jacket fits into the capsule very well, and it is necessary for the variety. Your outfits are really stylish, and I agree thtat you don't need to shop for more of this if you don't want to replace anything. I'm interested in your thoughts about wants vs needs, would you like to elaborate a little on that? What are the wants and what ere the needs? I felt that this capsule work made my wants vs needs a lot clearer, too. I always fall in love with a bit more dressy garments than my lifestyle requires, but is that really a problem? I'm not sure.

I would keep the floral jacket too for a bit of variety, but it may be a piece that you replace down the road with something else patterned. You've got some great outfits here!

I like the floral jacket in the mix - I think that, with a small wardrobe like this, it will add the feeling of more variety since it so different from the other toppers.

Caro I admire the work you are putting in and the process involved. I like all these combinations and I do like the floral jacket, is is black and white or navy and white? The question of what we need versus what we want is a good one. In the past I have bought what I wanted but clearly a lot of it was not that suitable for my real life. My criteria for purchasing has changed quite dramatically. Are you finding through this process that you are feeling more satisfied with what you have and enjoying the garments you have more?

I can make over 30 outfits from these pieces. Granted some of them are slight changes such as just taking off a jacket, but it's still more dressy outfits than I would need in a year. I don't wear these clothes together very often I'm more likely to wear the jackets with jeans or the skirts with my leather jacket. There is a bit of overlap with my evening capsule too.

These exercises have really got me thinking about:

1. what I need vs. what I want
2. where my style is going - I feel as though things are changing for me
3. I'm still thinking about whether these pieces work with my style words

Sorry about the Gumby pose in the navy suit - I tried putting the camera on a shelf - it fell off!!!

I threw in the floral jacket to make up the numbers & I'm not sure if it's a keeper - it looked much better with the nude heels than with the booties imo.

Any thoughts?
