When I studied in Australia, I lived in Melbourne and traveled around the surrounding countryside a bit. It was so beautiful. I can see how it would be a tinderbox, especially in a drought. It makes me so mad to think that people would intentionally set any of these fires. It seems to be the case too often here in California when we have fires, too. Its terrible isn't it? I feel kind of sick that I was out shopping when a lot of it was happening. My parents house got evacuated a few years ago but they were fine. It's sickening to think these are often deliberately lit. The fires are terrible aren't they; I can hardly believe it. I am on the other side of Australia, in the West, so I am fine, as are my family and friends. My neighbour is worried about her parents though - they are on a farm with no phone so she just doesn't know</p> <p>I am fairly sure that Tam is in Sydney, a different state to where the worst fires are.
