When leggings are too long for me, I usually just pull them up until they hit in the right place. The bunchy fabric is hidden under my tunic so it's no big deal. Or, you could just bunch them up and get the ruching effect. But it's sort of tricky to get it right in my experience. It can look a bit messy.

Or just let them scrunch. Indian ladies have been doing this for decades! My mom just bought back a pair of "leggings" from India and they are 35" long, but meant to scrunch a lot at the ankle. It's a cute look and probably my favorite as far as national dress goes (I actually prefer it by far to saris).

Michelle I've got a pair of ruched leggings that I quite like, but find arent as versatile as normal leggings. I think stirrup leggings were my absolute favourite purchase of last year however, I will so sad if they ever stop making them again. I say go find some!!!!

Like AJ, I like a bit of scrunch at my ankles. However, my ankles are NOT too skinny, so I think the scrunch disguises the thickness a little and adds texture and interest that help balance out my pear body.

Also, I just saw a Macy's catalog where the new spring leggings came ruched at the ankle!!

You are right on track, michelle

I like a bit of scrunch at the ankle, but then again I think my ankles are too skinny so the extra scrunch makes me feel better. : )

My long leggings scrunch at the bottom and it doesn't bother me. Often it helps balance things out.

Definitely not! I seem to recall a tip from Angie about scrunching them along the entire length so you can distribute the extra fabric and make them capri length (sorry if I misquoted!). I think most leggings have extra, so it's normal and you definitely didn't look foolish!

You haven't made a fool of yourself at all. It sounds like the leggings are a bit too long for you though, but honestly, it doesn't sound like a big deal at all. I like Julie's suggestion. Or, this might be wacky, but can you pull them up higher on your body to get rid of some of the extra length?

Michelle- they actually sell some leggings that are gathered at the ankle, so scrunch is not necessarily a bad thing. I wouldn't wear them down over my foot, but that's just me.

Julie, I was just thinking as I wrote this post that stirrup leggings would be so perfect for me, and I absolutely intend to find a pair for the spring. I will try pulling it down over my foot. I'm at my desk now, but I'll see how the walking is. Now I have just a bit of my bare foot exposed, from about the middle to wear the flat begins. Will that look ridiculous?

You have definitely not made a fool of yourself Michelle, you can buy leggings with ruching sewn in.

My preference is to pull the extra length over the foot and then add my ballet flats. Would you find this comfortable? If not, stirrup leggings may be a great option for you as the strap under the foot ensures the leggings stay in place all day.

I still struggle with leggings. I've never had someone physically with me to help me figure out exactly how they're supposed to be worn, and it's not an aesthetic that I can easily work out by touch alone. But I wanted to wear my beloved cobalt dress today, and since my textured hose need replacing, I broke out a pair of absurdly comfortable leggings. Are they supposed to scrunch at the ankle or just form a smooth line? If they're long enough to scrunch but aren't supposed to do so, should I extend them down over my foot and try to wear them inside my ballet flats? If only I had booties; that would solve the problem, I'm sure.

Please be honest and tell me if I've gone out looking idiotic.
