It appears thes are the dreaded no- man's length-- not scrunched over foot and yet not showing ankle. If thou hemmed you'd have to taper both the calf and the thigh.
These pants just don't " get you".
I do agree Talbot's curvy varies. I have some flannel trousers that fit, but their curvy jeans have too much curve right about where your pants do also so they don't work.

I vote return. The length is borderline okay, but the width with the length doesn't look intentionally fashionable. Tailoring is no guarantee either.

I wouldn't have put you in a curvy fit, Deb. Have you tried the Loft and BR?

Unfrumped, I have several other pair of Talbot's curvy fit pants and have had not problem. Their other fits are too straight and leave the back gap which is even more difficult to fix. Do you think the length it OK?

Eh, I vote for tailoring. Pants are sooo tough.

Deb, it seems you may be trying the wrong "fit". The curvy's have that fullness there on purpose. If you don't need, it there are tons of pants that are cut slimmer through the hip and thigh. So the only reason I'd tailor is if I found something in a HEWI color or fabrication. Talbots has 2 or 3 straighter fits as does AT and so on. Unless you've already tried a lot and somehow nothing clicked.

I often have the same problem. Do you have a good tailor? My tailor retired & in trying out new ones I've had a couple of disasters, so I'm probably not the one to ask:)

Here's a pep talk sort of on the topic--mall clothes that don't fit without alterations--I need to keep this one to remind myself:

How hard is it for you to find pants you like that also fit correctly?

If it's difficult, then yes, get them altered. To my eye they would look much better with the excess taken out of the thigh--the legs seem to hang down in a baggy fashion in the back of the thigh, and yes, I think they'd look much better slightly narrowed. As an old--I mean former--sewer myself, this shouldn't be a difficult job, and if they are lined, well, twice as much work to even everything out. Not difficult though.

I got the Talbot's ankle pants today. I am happy with the waist and booty fit but I need more saddle bag in the leg to fill them out. They are very nicely made, think men's tailored suiting. I have questions though.

Do you think the length is good?

If I have them tailored to take out the thigh bulge should I also have the legs narrowed?

Or should I just return them and keep looking?

ETA - I am leaning toward taking them to the tailor if you all think the length is good. What say you?
