I have to twist someone's arm to take photos so Zi tend to go for the front option. I always check my side view but not do much from the back - I like to live in happy ignorance

My primary concern is the side view, as I prefer to disguise a tummy. But of course I check all angles of an outfit before leaving the house.

I haven't yet posted a WIW, but I think people mostly post front views because it gives the best view of the pieces they are wearing, much like a catalogue picture. Important details of the clothing are often not seen from the side or back, so while a side view matters when buying and when getting dressed, a front view is really the best for showing the end result, IMO.

My side view is usually my biggest concern but I usually don't post it because I don't think it tells the story as well as the front view.

For me it is brevity, Joan. It takes time to take the photos, and it takes time for people to look at them. So in the interests of saving us all, I give what I consider the "main" view in WIW posts. Sometimes a slightly angled one instead.

I DO, however, check in my mirror from the side and usually the back as well. And if I'm concerned, or just especially curious (i.e. I never did see these two items together from the back before) I will take a photo of the back view but not post it.

In K/R posts I definitely show all angles if possible. Also in posts where I am trying to puzzle out proportions or perform some other learning exercise.

Great questions, Joan. I would like to see others from the side and back, but I don't want to be seen from those angles. Ha ha! I am a hypocrite!

I always check out the side and back views. I sew much of my wardrobe so those checks are important for fitting purposes, too. I am visible from all angles when I'm out an about so I care. The only time I will be seen from the front only will be in the coffin - at that point, I won't care at all.

I hadn't thought of that, Suz, but it makes sense that with K/R people are often concerned about whether the whole piece is perfect or not, so every angle has to be right.
Adelfa - do you know why it is that people don't post side pictures for WIW? It matters a lot to me if something is flattering from the side, so for me a good side profile is part of a successful outfit. Is it just brevity, like Anna and Diana mentioned?

This reminds me of the mirror we had in the ladies room where I worked in the 90's. Perfect rear view with how it was angled to the front mirror. Eye opening to be sure.
I tend to go with the front or 1/4 view. I've never had issues with rear view, maybe more the side, but as Suz says, what's done is done right?

I definitely check all my angles in the mirror. I don't always photograph all of them for my WIW, and if I'm only showing one view, it's usually a front one. This is for the sake of expediency mostly. I don't have time to take a million photos in the morning. And I have terrible posture esp. when standing still/posing so my side/back views often come out looking like Quasimodo. Sometimes I'll do a side view if it shows something interesting (like the shape of my shoes or something like that.)

When I do K/R posts, I do try to show the item from many different angles.

I try to post a side view from time to time but mostly a front view. Honestly I think it comes down to time. Taking pictures takes time. I do not have photographer SO to take my pictures and make me look like a pretty, pretty blog.

You're smart, because in real life we are seen from all angles, and in motion, too. Still photos (at any angle) are so poor at expressing that.

I confess, I tend to think about the front the most, since that's where my face is. But I do try to check the side (at minimum) and the back (if worried). I ought to do both more.

You'll see people post side and back view much more often on "keep or return" posts. For "what I wore" it's a done deal anyway, right?

When you get dressed, what angles do you think about? Is your main focus your profile from the front, or the line of your body from the side? Do you check the view from the back?
I asks because I was looking at through some WIWs, and most people only post the front view. I realized that I would never post and outfit without a side view, because I think about that angle as much or more as the view from the front. But I'm wondering if that's just a quirk of mine. What angles do you ladies think about in an outfit?
