You definitely pass with flying colors! These all look great to me for work, except fro #6; but that's a matter of the washed charcoal not matching up saturation-wise with the deep cobalt. I think that jacket would work well with the b/w striped dress, though like Rachy not sure about it for your work.

Let me just say, I'm envious of whatever employee discount you get. I used to get an employee discount at Nordstrom waaaay back when I helped dress models for fashion shows in Seattle. Wish I had that now.

Firecracker, yes, all the departments are different, and we are supposed to reflect them.

Deborah, I missed your question before. It is our department's policy that we may not wear sleeveless outfits.

Rachy, not too frank. I'm sure if you thought it, then others will, too. :T

Elle, I use a timer on both my camera and my phone... I don't have an iphone, though. I'd assume the iphone has it, too, though, since my phone is way cheaper.

Love #1/2 (the styling is awesome and is fab with your hair!). Give #5 the ok because it works so well with the boots (but this color on you is a meh for me). Don't feel the others work for your current context... although #6 is most like me, I'm not sure I'd want you helping me at Nordstrom. I wouldn't understand why you were working there...

Even before I saw Angie's comment, my reaction was they all look terrific and appropriate for Nordies. You are such a perfect model of style for your customers. I like how these looks all reflect the same personality we've seen in many of your posts and yet they are distinctly different, as they reflect your new job setting.
Question for you: does the dress code differ depending on the department you're in? Just curious, as a faithful, bordering on obsessive Nordies customer--among department stores, it's pretty much the only one I'll shop at. It does seem to me that SAs tend to reflect the style of their departments.

Thanks for all the suggestions and reassurances! I feel much better abou this now. I had historically wanted to dress so I *didn't* look like anyone else but myself, so it is a new thing for me to worry about fitting in.

To answer some questions:

- Kalli, I work at the Westside Pavillion! Triple points for our store are coming up next week. :)

- No, we don't wear name tags. We have fitting room keys to identify us, but then we also approach the customers and offer help, so recognition isn't a problem. I just wouldn't want anyone to be put off and turn me down in favor of someone else.

- Hm, I'm torn on #4 now that it is an Angie fave. I know I won't shorten the sleeves, because that is my preferred sleeve length (It bugs me when sleeves ride up as I move around). We'll see. :)

- Diana, all of these are very soft and thin. I don't have any truly outdoor only ones... for that I prefer coats!

- I had dismissed the idea of layering a top under, but I may try it with a button-front! If I see a mesh top, I love that idea, too.

*Side note: I'm SO very glad I figured out my heels can go to work! I think the slim-ankled, heeled boots are what made this click for me. Weighty enough to handle the leather, yet the ankle and high heels makes them much more dressy/refined than my engineer boots.

I love #1/2. I like #4 also but have the same feeling as Kelly about it looking like an outdoor jacket. (Also, can you move around freely/do everything you need to do) while wearing a leather jacket? Maybe I'm just projecting but I feel really constricted wearing leather jackets indoors unless they are suede and/or very soft/thin. Particularly if I am doing something more active than sitting at the desk (in my case, lab work), which I assume would apply to your job as well.

I especially love 1/2 and 5. I would absolutely trust you and solicit your advice in a store if I were shopping there! I agree with the others that the jacket in #4 looks more outdoor. And I feel the olive/tan jacket works better with the blue than it does with the stripes.

Julie asks a good question about the name tags. Do you wear one? Would it be pinnable to leather? How do clients recognize sales staff in the store?

I agree with those who have said that your smile is the absolute winning accessory. It is part of what makes you approachable no matter how "tough" your outfit.

I don't know Nordies either - apart from via YLF and on-line so I feel I almost do. I think you look great in #1,2,3 and 5. Agree with others on 4 and 6 (think it's just the neckline of the dress in 6 that is detracting. Also think you a right that #4 jacket, fab as it is, would be better paired with a more substantial fabric in the dress.
Re no -sleeveless - have you tried going for wearing layer under the dress with capped sleeves or long?

I like them all, but my faves are #2 & 4. After reading how your co-workers dress, I thinking I would try to mix these jackets with your banker trousers (assuming that you have some). As a Nordies customer the mix of conservative and leather would say to me, here is someone not afraid to take a risk, but not so far out there that they won't understand my day to day needs.

I am loving #2 and #5. I prefer the leather unzipped for indoor wear. All are great but I am really liking the olive with cobalt in #5.

Each picture just got better and better! Be still my heart -- you look absolutely fierce!

(I want to be Rae when I grow up!)

All of them are 20's on a scale from 1 to 10 but you know how I feel about color so the my absolute favorite is #5 it's a 21. I just love when colors masquerade as neutrals

Great combos. 4 is the only one that I feel doesn't work. Why can't you wear sleeveless, is it store policy? I don't understand.

I think the outfits are fantastic Rae and perfectly appropriate.

Do you wear a sales associate tag when you are working? My only hesitation is if your colleagues are donning an almost uniform of black trousers, shirt and cardigan would I instantly recognise you as a member of the team?

I would wear these outfits with pride but remain observant, if you feel the clients are approaching another member of staff because they are more recognisable as staff then perhaps reconsider.

Having said that, it is often the friendly smile and introduction which marks a member of staff rather than the clothing.

ETA - please remember I'm in the UK and have zero experience of a Nordie's store.
