I was reading somewhere that women didn't start wearing cardigans until quite recently, before then they used jackets and shawls, and I found that so interesting (I'm glad I live in a cardi era)! Perhaps that's why your jacket looked more 19th century, especially since it's short and fitted? And of course the boots and longer hemline. And you were clearly made for purple and grey. </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/angies-grey-and-sort-of-lavender#post-1145923 Tue, 21 Jan 2014 22:41:46 +0000 MuseumGal 1145923@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>When I saw Angie's post last week, I couldn't wait to delve into my wardrobe.&nbsp; I can't really wear lavender, but I'm all over the darker purples!&nbsp; I also wanted to try it with grey Eileen Fisher tank/maxi dress from last week.&nbsp; Angie told me to go shorter and more fitted with the toppers, so that's what I did.</p> <p>1) This how I meant to wear the outfit -the dark grey dress (over black lace cami and black skating tights) with a dark purple long sleeve V neck sweater/pullover/jumper.&nbsp; Added my black "newsboy" lace up booties and was delighted at the overall feel (more on that below), which seemed a bit 19th century.&nbsp; I wanted some baroque type earrings to match the feel and&nbsp; words cannot express how much self-restraint it took to only wear these huge fan shaped earrings and no necklace!&nbsp; </p> <p>2) I adore this jacket and the juxtaposition of the formal tweed/herringbone fabric combined with <i>fuchsia</i> and a modern cropped cut.&nbsp; I added this purple and grey silk scarf (repurposed from an old sari).&nbsp; I ended up wearing the jacket all day since the sweater is acrylic and not all that warm (back to wool to tomorrow, for sure).</p> <p>3) What I like most about this outfit was all the textures - leather, lace, silk, tweed, metal ... trying to give you some of the detail here.</p> <p>4) Erm, somehow I volunteered to go teach beginning ballroom tonight.&nbsp; I used to do this regularly, but it's been a couple of years!&nbsp; Anyway, I knew I'd be too hot so exchanged the purple sweater for this lightweight cardigan.</p> <p>5) 2 more grey and purple outfits from last February!</p> <p>Happiness factor:&nbsp; high.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Comments and suggestions welcome. </p>
