Pretty late to this post but I like your descriptors for 00Noir Princess. I'm getting the Avengers Vibe too as in the 1960s TV series with you in the role of Emma Peel.

Oh, man! That is goooood. I had been going with "00noir," but there is something about the comic reference that may apply, too (bright colors, bodycon, tall boots). Hmmmm...

After years shackled in the shadows of Metropolis fighting the oppressive regime of Finance, the clouds break and a ray (Rae) of sunshine bathes our heroine in healing light. Feeling optimistic about the future she sheds her armour and heads down the highway into the unknown.

Or in other words, I don't know what your new persona should be but I do think you should include Metro/ Metropolitan as a reference for Urban and DC Comics.

No, I'm not seeing princess so much anymore either. You're evolving into more sophisticated territory. I can definitely relate! I need to always temper my rock'n'roll impulses with a dose of sophistication, often in the form of a classic piece or two.

"Film noir encompasses a range of plots: the central figure may be a private eye (The Big Sleep), a plainclothes policeman (The Big Heat), an aging boxer (The Set-Up), a hapless grifter (Night and the City), a law-abiding citizen lured into a life of crime (Gun Crazy), or simply a victim of circumstance (D.O.A.)".

D'oh! Zap has a point. Although I do love the dark vibe of noir and films like Bladerunner for my style, I'm not sure if "hapless grifter" is the only thing I want on my mind.

00NoirPrincess? 00 = sleek, competent, no-nonsense, spy-like. Noir = dark, brooding, penchant for trenches and neutrals and gritty color. Princess = bright color, bling, softness, drape, luxury. o_0

Mm. You know, I don't think urban noir is redundant. Noir can take one on country drives, past roadside cafes, to little farmhouse hideouts. The little placid interlude before you find out how fatal the femme fatale is...

Rae I am not very good with descriptors but I am enjoying the thread and the suggestions. Sleek Secret Agent is cool! I am thinking Roz Myers from Spooks:) But at any rate, whatever you call it, your style is evolving beautifully and I love it. There is definitely a new sophistication and a see a strong signature look developing.

Ooh, I am eating up all the suggestions! Thank you, ladies! You all are have definitely sold me on the noir descriptor.

Cathy is right, though: urban noir is redundant. Ain't no pastoral noir that I've ever heard of. I guess that means that urban secret agent is also redundant. Hmmm... thanks for pointing this out; I only want to add words that add something to the picture.

Gaylene, I love your description! I am totally fine with the fact that Bond Girls are not princesses, since my imaginary persona wants to be a 00 in her own right.

I kind of like the Euro Noir label because that seems to capture that Bond Girl image in my mind--Burberry trench on the outside, but a strong suggestion of danger on the inside. That juxtaposition seems to combine an approachable, ladylike image on the outside with a gritty power and confidence on inside. You play nice with the Bond girls and they'll be nice back to you, but watch out when you mistakenly take them for granted. In my mind, Bond girls are not Princesses, but, maybe, they are what happens to a Princess when she gets comfortable with power and has the confidence to go against the big boys?

Attainable.

While maybe you don't always have to dress "for" your customers, what I can tell you is, if I were to walk into a store, what I would so love to see is someone dressing in a way that I could say, wow, you look great and maybe, with help, I COULD DO THAT. Now the problem is, that would be different, to some extent, for different age groups and demographics and all that, so perhaps that's why there might even be different dress ideals in different departments within a store, and the Loft SA dreses differently than the J Crew, vs the Neiman's, so the SA person can't be all things to all people in dress outfit alone, but has to more, suggest, that she is a person who can help someone achieve their shopping and style goals.

I'm not sure any of that helps your leather jacket goals, but anyway.

Some recent favorites below.

Mm, Urban Noir Princess feeling some love. Looking at my outfit history, it does seem to fit.

Another idea: SAS: Secret Agent Sophisticate...? Going off of Zap's call that the princess is grown?

I feel the right balance takes it from bordering on costume (the Mad Max extra) and makes it a relatable look. What to call it, I'm not sure, but I like the shift.

I like what you've done here, Rae. Like it a whole lot. And I'm liking Urban Noir Princess. Noir is a nice mix of grit and refinement... and still understanding of the coming Zombie Apocalypse
