Staysfit - what fascinating insight into your outfit. Genuine composed shines clearly in what you wear and how you write. I’m so glad sincere grace resonates. It’s certainly the feeling I from your photos and posts. There is such a tremendous sense of motion in your outfit - drape, color, diagonal lines - it’s perfect and I can practically see and hear the waves crashing and receding form the shore. I like your cape analogy. I never appreciated the importance of motion in clothes before I started wearing EF. It’s magical isn’t it? I really like the skinnies with the wrap dress. The concept is similar to my tunics/legging. Just different material but cozy, warm and practical!!

KKards, I hope the same for you. Fortunatley, the damage around here was relatively minor, eg. Trees falling, power outages, and missing siding on buildings, and a fallen scaffold. There were no reported storm related deaths, no buildings collapsing, major truck or highway accidents, and the power outages were not widespread or long lasting.

lyn67, I agree with you and admit that one of my favorite YLF activities is perusing WIW posts and enjoying the uniqueness of each persons individual style and how that gets expressed using a seemingly endless array of fashion options,.

Bijou, I have to pack my clothes for tomorrow in advance because I’m going to the gym. I’m still very tired so something pajamalike is sounding nice......

Toronto girl, I like that, Wellness-chic!

Angie, thank you for your thoughtful remarks. I try to be mindful of the many privileges in my life, and certainly my wardrobe counts among them. I can remember feeling like I had no sense of style when I first joined this forum. In fact, in keeping with my very analytical ways, I dedicated myself towards learning as much as possible about fashion, color, contrast, shapes, and silhouettes so I could develop a personal style, the best ways to shop and budget, and how to manage my wardrobe. I gained so much more than I expected, and the biggest reward has been developing confidence in knowing that I have an innate sense of style and it’s dictated, among other things, by my emotions! Having confidence in my style as well as in every other aspect of my life that matters to me has been truly wonderful. It makes a difference in how people respond to me, and in how I feel. I am truly grateful for everything I have, for the people who have been in my life and for all the help I have received from everyone on this forum. :-)

Fashiontern, no offense taken! I reread my response to what you wrote and can see why you might be worried but I understood your meaning, and in my sleepy state did a poor job of expressing myself.....my comments were a poor attempt at humor. At some other time, perhaps via PM, we can talk more about your son if you would like.

Xtabay, thanks for the positive feedback about my outfit and my hair!

SaraD8, thanks! I think something that Angie says about emotional planning is key to how I can pick out an outfit on the fly. I pick all the pieces in just a few seconds, based on how I feel, and how I think something will look. It is only afterwards that I go back and then think analytically about each piece and how they work as an integral part of my style.

Wow, I am amazed that you are able to pull together such a thoroughly thought-out outfit on the fly -- and under less than ideal conditions! You truly have superpowers. The final result is fabulous. I love the mix of colors and I get a sense of movement even from the still photos. Stay safe!

You wear colours that suit you perfectly and this outfit is fun and cheerful on what sounds like a horrid day. Hoping that the weather conditions improve as winter is almost gone.

Cardiffgirl, thanks!

Fashiontern, my description may indeed be odd, and I wrote it late at night after a long work day, in crazy weather, and with little sleep. I admit however, with good grace, that I am probably odd. It takes a unique personality to be a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist! Regarding my profile pic......I have to agree with you, however, the pic is sentimental. If you look closely, DS did the most perfect photobomb and I had the best laugh about it with him. It was such a rare and unique moment with him that I cannot bear to change the picture. (You May recall that DS has Autism, and absolutely hates to be photographed, I don’t even have any school photos of him because me managed to skip every photo session!)

Mainelady, many thanks! I agree and like the word luxurious to describe the feeling of cashmere! Absolutely true! I’m not sure about your situation, but the schools I work in can vary in temperature from freezing cold, to overly warm. Each space in the building is different, so layers help. I can peel off the cardigan if it gets too warm, or put it back on if I am cold, etc.

Jussie, my dearest friend in town describes my style as funky fresh and fun, so you made my day by using the word funky for one of my WIW, I think it’s the first time anyone on the forum has done that!

Joy, both the dress and the sweater are cashmere. It’s truly my weakness when shopping......I love wearing it in the winter! :-)

Suz, as you know, I do not have the classic curvy hourglass figure that would typically flatter a wrap. I have a rectangular athletic build, IT tendencies, a long rise and slightly disproportionate short legs for my height; my chest is small for my height and frame. Still, for whatever reason, wraps seem to work. Thinking more about it this morning, when I read Angie’s guidelines for dressing for body type, I mostly adhere those for rectangular shape. Her guidelines do talk about using more fitted clothing in some instances to highlight the waist and create the illusion of a more curvy figure, and I believe that is what happens with a wrap. I think a sleeveless sheath, and a wrap dress are among the only silhouettes that truly allow my figure to shine because they fit me so well, and they are sleek and produce that effect Angie described which allows me to look deceptively curvy. I think you do this sometimes as well, but maybe your secondary tendency isn’t IT or hourglass, so it doesn’t work as well in a wrap, but you use a more structured or tailored garment, like a sheath dress, or even a tube skirt. I think it has the same effect, and IMO you look amazing when you wear them. Thanks for the comparison to Linda Rodin! I am truly flattered and maybe she should be my new style icon.

Karen13, I appreciate the complement about my longer hair. It feels like my hair is growing so slowly! The awkward phase is taking longer than 6 weeks. I am at a point where I have a funny upward flip at the nape of my neck. Typically, I give up when that happens because I feel like Betty Boop and want to cut it all short again! :-)

Katerina, thanks for your warm complements, I truly love your taste and style so it means a lot to me!

Jane, thanks also for noticing my hair. I need encouragement to keep growing it, unless of course it doesn’t look good, in which case I will chop it down again! So far, I agree with the postitive opinions and am fairly happy, except for the upflip in back (see above).

I had never thought of pairing a wrap dress with jeans (maybe because it is a rare thing for me to find a wrap dress that works for me), but I agree with you.......great combo of feminine and tough. I imagine a cashmere wrap dress feels luxurious all day long.

I also l8ke the longer hair. I am growing mine a bit longer after years of quite short, and often find that if I can make it past the initial shaggy period 6 weeks from a cut, I kind of like the change for a while. Your outfit has lovely drape and color. The cardigan and cami colors go beautifully together and pop agains the grey.

I love sweater dresses but wrap dresses do not work for my body type. Is the dress wool? The pink and turquoise really brighten it up.

I am one of the people on the forum who "wears my style" every day, so my daily outfit selection reflects my personality and includes wardrobe items that I truly love. I do not plan outfits in advance, so outfit selection is done day by day and is based on my style adjectives - soft, fresh, classic, sleek, practical, light; and my style statement Genuine Composed (Gryffin's suggestion of Sincere Grace enters my mind as well ---thanks Gryffin)
I also keep my 2019 intention word and color "Wellness" and Turquoise in mind. Finally, before choosing and outfit I integrate all the above with the weather, my emotional state, and the planned activities for the day.

Today's outfit is a silhouette I adopted after seeing something in an Angie post and I love it so much that it is one of my all time favorite combinations. I suppose it may be a sartorial preference? I love pairing wrap dresses with Jean's and long cardigans. I have done this in all sorts of versions but today was the first time I paired a cashmere wrap dress with a cardigan. I I had to travel about an hour in an unusually strong windstorm to get to work. Most of the local schools were either closed or on a several hour delay. I felt tired from poor sleep due to the loud wind noises all night. To help me regain my positive Center, the day called for something extra soft and cozy, somewhat neat, but also practical enough that I could manage a stressful drive.....I was thinking of large trucks or SUV's being blown out of their lane on the highway, fallen trees creating barriers for travel, etc.

I have no idea how or why I wanted to wear this particular silhouette instead of skinny jeans and a cozy turtleneck, but for whatever reason a bright sunny pink camisole seemed to call out to me and looked warm and cheerful. I love the neckline which is a soft cowl. I think it looks fresh and somewhat light and definitely soft. The cami reminds me of gently rolling ocean waves and that along with the color are the reasons I can identify as to why I love the camisole as part of my style. (I should add that I am a swimmer and grew up boating and doing all manner of water activities so anything that reminds me of the gentle flow and movement of water in a pool, ocean or lake makes me happy.)

The second item I chose were my Jean's. I love skinny Jean's. They are practical and comfortable. I particularly love the fit and look of this style of J Brand Carolina Jean's. They have a high rise and the inseam is 32 inches which is perfect for my longish legs. I am low to medium contrast, and these are a fairly even medium wash. I prefer either this of a medium dark wash. These Jean's are not hemmed. I usually prefer a hem, although I like the way the fraying of these look when I wear sneakers
I obviously wore boots today! :-)

I am a big fan of wrap dresses, and have a fairly large collection. I like that they are sleek, femine, classic, and they are also soft and light. For extra comfort and softness today, I quickly had an inspiration to pair my grey cashmere wrap dress with a long blue cardigan sweater that would echo the wave effect of the camisole. I have never put a long cardigan over a sweater wrap dress before, I have only done this with my silk wraps.

I feel great whenever I wear combination - wrap dress, Jean's, long cardigan. Maybe it's the right mix of feminine with the toughness/authority from the Jean's? As a female physician of a certain age, I think a certain amount of toughness of character has always been necessary. Long cardigans fit me better than blazers when used as toppers because they stretch over my slightly wide, slightly IT shoulders, but still allow for the smaller bone structure of my torso. I love the motion of them when I walk. They have a playfulness I appreciate. Some of you are aware that I have previously made a superhero cape analogy and perhaps there is a hope for sending a subliminal message that I have some power or authority but am still genuine and sincere, etc.

Accessories are important to me. Glasses are part of my signature as are bangels and my watch. I tried all three pairs of my glasses, red, turquoise and crystal. The turquoise and red both looked good, but I liked the turquoise best. I had an idea of adding some cheer to the dreary day by using some warm weather jewelry. I pulled out a turquoise stone necklace, some gold hoops, and a colorful wide bangle seemed to tie everything together. I also added my nametags and keys which I have to wear at work. I like the colorful necklace used to hold my nametags and consider it to be part of my daily outfit.

For boots, I wanted some texture, so I picked my fur trimmed Aquatalias. I find these very comfy and warm as well.

Overall, I felt excellent about my outfit today despite being sleep deprived. My hair is getting longer and is due for a trim at the end of the week. I snapped this picture after chasing down some runaway trash bins so my dress and sweater may look rumpled from being smashed under my coat. Any wrinkles fall away quickly....but not instantly!! :-)

Cheers! It's me!
