Being slender and knowing how to dress your figure probably helps, too! And I understand why you feel like you are "average" height. We've got Danish friends who used to live here, then moved back to Denmark, who were thinking about holding their daughter back from her first year of school because she is so tiny. I was surprised, because their daughter is exactly as tall as my own -- definitely on the small side, but not freakishly so. When I asked them about it, they said, yes, she's pretty average in North America, but here in Denmark, she's miniature! The parents are what I'd call fairly tall -- the dad is about 5'11", but they explained that he's SMALL for a Danish man! It stood out to me because my mom, at 5'6", had never seem particularly tall to me (at least not by adult standards). Then it occurred to me that you might feel that you aren't because you are thinking about women in the Netherlands and, sure enough, when I looked it up the average woman there is 5'6 1/2. </p> <p>I actually found this average height chart for countries across the world very interesting. The Netherlands are definitely among a small handful of the tallest countries.
