Thanks Igne, for all the links...I'll definitely look into to them... As far as the bra thing goes, I do wear underwire...I feel like they give me more support...not only am I top heavy but my chest is very heavy as well. I am not sure if that makes sense, but I almost feel like some woman maybe top heavy, but their chest might feel lighter then mine…I don't know...I'm being speculative...maybe some of my top heavy ladies on hear can chime in on that subject...

Fearless....do you wear underwires? (I am assuming you don't because you machine washed your bras). There are such things as comfortable underwire bras--and they do offer a bit more support.

The worst thing you can do for your bras is to put them in the dryer. The heat kills the elastic content that makes them supportive. Actually, you shouldn't put anything with lycra in the dryer, for that matter.

Personally, I'd rather own two dream bras that I wash and wear than a drawer full of cheap bras that are uncomfortable and unflattering. You can get fitted at Nordstrom, try on tons of bras there since they make it so easy--then use the internet to shop for the best price on the bra you prefer.

A warm welcome from me as well Fearless. And thanks for posting pictures, it's difficult the first time, isn't it? But you did it!!-)

A few more (online) shops:
http://leeleesvalise.com/about-us
http://www.kiyonna.com/plus-size-clothing.htm
http://www.fashionfitsme.com/aboutUs.aspx
This is actually a shopping portal where you can find clothing from lots of different stores. It looks promising. I found the link on:
http://www.beautypluspower.com/
(if you click on the shopping directory on the left, you get a list of stores that sell larger sizes per category, also rather handy I think)

The founder of the website also has a blog? I'm sure many more stores are mentioned there as well.
http://beautypluspower.blogspot.com/

You've probably already checked there, but doesn't H&M carry 18 in store as well?

Good luck with the bra fitting! Keep us posted?

Nordstrom carries plus sizes. They are more expensive, but they have good sales you can shop. Also, there is a store called, "Torrid," and I believe they carry the same size range as Lane Bryant. Their clothes aren't super high quality, but you might be able to pick up some trendier items there.

Fearless, the bras at Lane Bryant don't necessarily have to be a mistake, you just need to make sure you are getting ones with good support and that are in the right size. I have to try on every single LB one I buy because they do all fit very differently! That said, I do think the non-LB ones do offer more support sometimes, but they're also twice as expensive. So I try to alternate between them.

I am also an 18, and I find a lot of my stuff online; there are several regular stores that go up to 18 on their websites but not at their stores. What I do is order what I think will work, then after I try them on and see if I like them, make sure I return anything I don't like. You can return all of them to the stores for free, and most of the time I don't even have to pay for shipping.

Stores that carry 18 online:
-Ann Taylor
-Ann Taylor Loft
-Gap
-Old Navy (plus sizes, must be returned via shipping)
-Target (which has a really amazing selection online)

Stores that carry 18 in the store:
-Ann Taylor Factory
-Talbots
-Lane Bryant

There are probably others, but those are the ones I hit most often.

Thanks... for all the replies... KristenKP, I made a mistake and my bras are from Lane Bryant...I get confused sometimes since those are really the only two stores I shop in...Oh and sometimes Walmart has my size and I find good clothing items for really good prices…gotta love Walmart...

Can anyone tell me wear else I can find clothing for my size that are trendy and cute...I wear about a 18, sometimes a 16 if it's a store is a plus size...

Hi Fearless! Welcome.

You've already gotten some excellent bra advice, but I do have two quick things to add: first, Lane Bryant also does fittings if you have trouble finding your size at Nordstrom. (I do sometimes. I also go to a local bra store occasionally too, but usually the stuff there is very "old lady".) Second, as you probably know, bras really don't last a year or more, especially if you wash them in the washing machine. That elasticity can only do so much!

Good luck with the bra shopping; believe me, you will feel so much better when the "girls" are standing tall and feeling good! LOL! I say all this from experience, because we have about the same body shape -- I'm taller but just as curvy.

Thanks you guys for replying to my post... In addition to all the great advice...I know I need better bras...I will take your advice Nicole...I actually do have a Nordstrom near me...I need to take a visit...Right know I'm wearing bras from Ashley Stewart... When I first started wearing them I thought they held me up pretty good, but I guess after months...ok a year LOL...of wearing and machine washing them they've lost their elasticity...

But let me tell you… there is nothing I despise more them bra shopping…It’s so daunting… But it needs to get done… So off to Nordstrom I go

Hi BLB thank you for the compliment… Yeah those measurements…Girl it took whole lot to put those numbers up… but I figured they are not going to stay that way…It’s temporary…I’m truly looking forward to that…. You are so right the woman on here are awesome and have been so welcoming… A truly blessed bunch….

Keep them coming ladies...I need all the help I can get...

(The camaraderie has begun and it makes me smile).

Nicole is our YLF bra expert, so you're hearing from the best! Her info is spot on and I strongly suggest that you try and follow it through as far as you can.

The best bra makes a world of difference to your silhouette. It gives you a waistline and curves in all the right places. They are expensive but worth every penny if you take care of them. Go to this category on this site and start reading up all about bras and underwear (be sure to scroll all the way down to the end):

Hi fearless! (love your screen name!) Thanks for taking that scary first step of posting photos.

Since Angie has already gotten you squared away with your original question of body shape--I'm going to talk about your bra situation.

If you can find a more supportive bra, you will feel so much better about yourself and be much more comfortable throughout the day. The right bra will be so comfortable that you would rather wear it than not wear it. There are lots of discussions on this forum about bra fittings, but I'll save you the hassle of searching for them.

If you live a near a Nordstrom, you can walk in and get a great fitting. (It's the only place that has ever measured me correctly). Avoid Victoria Secret and the like--they will try to sell you a sister size if they don't have your true size. If you don't live near a Nordstrom, you can measure yourself with a soft, fabric tape measure.

Measuring yourself can be frustrating because every bra brand uses those numbers differently. Sometimes you have to add 5" to your under bust measurement, sometimes you don't add any thing, and sometimes you add 1 or 3 inches. It's crazy. Then there's the cup size issue. Some brands run D, DD, DDD but some run D, E, F...It can be overwhelming, but be systematic about trying different brands, different sizes and different styles. Once you find a bra that fits, it will be worth all the effort that goes into it.

Be prepared to spend a decent amount of money on a bra--this is not an area to cheap out on. Expect a good bra to cost anywhere from $50-$100. Be ready to try on all different brands and styles. My personal favorite is by Fantasie of England, it's an underwire with no seams. (I am also well endowed) A lot of the ladies here swear by Chantelle. I own one, and still prefer my Fantasie bras. (Chantelle bands seem to run small).

If you could measure yourself, I could help you decide which size bras to try. You'll need to write down three different measurements. While wearing a bra, measure directly under your bust. Then measure the fullest part of your bust. Then measure above your bust, so the tape measure goes under your arms.

I don't think your bra looks too small--so I don't think you need a bigger size. I think it looks unsupportive and uncomfortable. We can definitely get you sorted out!

Welcome to the group and I'm looking forward to more of your posts!

You are a super curvy hourglass with beautiful skin and luscious lips. Dressing well starts with the best bra so that’s where we’ll start. When did you last go for a bra fitting?
