This would be fun for me, too.

Something I think works well is to warm up the combination of burgundy and navy. Rust and navy have that great color wheel opposite thing going--blue and orange--but sometimes navy and burgundy look more drab and cold. Camel, various "tan" leather colors, cognac, and even "warm olive" seem to liven it up for me, such as in a printed top, a scarf, or leather accessories. Also I think that works for me because I seem to like hybrid or in-between colors sometimes, and things that combine cool + warm often look "healthier" than one or the other.

Thanks for asking for this color combo. I too ignored Friday's post since warm tones make me look like death warmed over. Now I have some ideas for fall ensembles.

Great idea, Suz! It never occurred to me because rust and warm tones are so not-me that I immediately tune it out. (Burned by all the earth tones I wore in the seventies before I figured out how unflattering they were.) But looking at the ensemble, yes, that gives me some ideas.

A comment on lisap's recent thread about her new burgundy dress has reminded me of the combo of burgundy with navy. I've seen the idea before and liked it, but never before thought of how to translate it into my own wardrobe, possibly because of the season. But now suddenly I am craving it with a passion, perhaps because the advent of cooler weather finally has me looking towards fall dressing.

I have a lot of navy pieces (although many of them add in white and /or have a nautical flavour), but limited burgundy as it's neither bright enough nor dark enough to really flatter on its own. I have a few rough ideas -- some with a cognac belt to rein in volume -- but would love recommendations from the pro. Can you do an ensemble for us, Angie?
