Mid tones are beautiful on you. I particularly love this sweater, the neckline is perfect on you and whilst there is softness, you command attention.

Great outfit! The jeans and turtleneck are gorgeous pieces and your pink strap pops against them. Like you, I also enjoy little associations and bits of my outfit that are not obvious to anyone else.

Great outfit Staysfit! That turtleneck is very special, softly, perfectly dramatic. It looks like it would blend well but also stands out on it's own. That's my idea of perfection. We like the same gray - very clean and clear, so I adore your colorway. I also love gray jeans - I have the madewell 9" and they are workhorses also gap real skinnies. I prefer black and gray jeans to denim most of the time. Gorgeous booties they are perfect, I can see why you love this outfit! Terrific!

I'm with you about contrast level! Many people on the forum wear black and white together so well-but it wears me rather than the reverse.

I really like the way you detail your choices for each outfit. As always, very well thought out and authentic to your style. I think feeling both confident and content is a great way to grade the success of an outfit. You know me, seeing your bangles (and one from your aunt) is making me smile the biggest smile. Rock those bangles......great grouping!

Nice top! It is subtly scene-stealing.

I'm trying to figure out what it is that makes you look authoritative here, think it's probably your shoulders and posture, rather than anything you're wearing. I do like the eye-catching red frames.

What a great analysis and description of your choices, Staysfit. This outfit is deceptively simple-looking, and I appreciate hearing about the details. The sweater and jeans are both a beautiful fit on you, and they make for a soothing, harmonious, flattering look.

Thanks Bonnie!

Suntiger, thanks! I agree white boots would look great with this outfit, and pick up the piping of the sweater, however for my taste, it would create too high a contrast level, and look crisp rather than soft which is my style. Angie has called me Miss Midtones multiple times which I believe speaks to the difficulty I would have with the extreme starkness of either white or black (which I also do not wear). During my last closet edit I decided to eliminate most of the white from my wardrobe. (There are some emotional reasons I do not care for white.). One of the things I love about Angie is she has her personal style and knows it well, but she also recognizes the style preferences of the members of this forum, and she judiciously gives suggestions which we can adapt or not as fits our personal sensibilities.

Very nice! Simple and well considered. Great that you have the wardrobe elements that enable you to easily switch up silhouettes. (I suspect variety is also very “you,” so you are also nailing this challenge on a meta level.)

More than JFE! Love the boots and fun to match your badge and glasses I suspect Angie will suggest white boots though!

I have a number of favorite silhouettes. Yesterday, I wore a wrap dress over jeans with a long cardigan. Today, I picked another favorite silhouette, Jean's, a turtleneck, and boots. Looking at my choices, it's helpful to think in terms of statement pieces and essentials pieces. Most of my turtlenecks are simple, unadorned and I would call them essentials. Today's turtleneck, a color blocked, two tone grey cashmere with white piping, from Boden, is a statement item. I adore this turtleneck for its interesting details and because it is soft, light, fresh, and derived from a classic. It's practical and perhaps sleek although it is verging on oversized. It has movement and texture. It is simple but interesting. I tried wearing it with a very slight partial tuck to give it some added structure and to expose some of the buttons on my Jean's. I like the look but I like it untucked as well.

I picked my grey J Brand Harper straight leg crop Jean's today mostly because I wore blue Jean's yesterday, and I like variety. I paired them with my navy square toe aquatalia ankle boots (purchased from NAS this year) and very warm long wool socks with pattern colors that echo the two toned grey of my sweater and the reddish pink of my glasses. It makes me happy when things coordinate like that --even when no one else can see them. These jeans feel fresh and updated, and in my wardrobe are probably a statement item because they are not my standard essential skinny silhouette. I like the textural interest and metallic sheen of the button fly and how it breaks up the sea of otherwise continuous soft material.

For accessories, I picked my red glasses frames which look good with today's workplace nametag. I picked some fun squiggle hoop earrings and as always some bangles, one of which is from my Aunt. I thought the silver and yellow bangle worked well with this outfit. It was a subtle bit of color, and along with my glasses and nametag felt like enough. I admit to enjoying the subtle hint of reverie to my alma mater with my "blue" boots and "maize" bracelet. :-)

No makeup today because I had a dermatologist appointment before heading to work.

Finally, here is a case where even though I love everything and am very content with the outfit, I might be even happier if the Aquatalia boots were a lighter blue or grey. They did not make them in that style and color in a water/weatherproof version, and these are JFE. Sometimes JFE is perfect, and enough to make me happy.

Cheers it's me!
