They seem to be getting sneakier it used to just be an obvious link to a site but recently like Kate says the 2 today I thought were real posts at first glance x

Thanks for the heads up. For now the best mechanism is to send me a private message.

You'll find that we normally see these and remove them. In some cases they are real spammers, and in others it is a legitimate member just getting a little too zealous about promoting their business or their employer. Obviously we treat these cases differently.

You don't want to know how much spam we head off at the pass before you even see it. It's like a plague on the Internet. Fortunately there are some good automated tools that deal with most of it.

When I see these I send a PM to Angie or Greg.

Here's a great feature request though: a "report this post" button.

I've noticed this also, and in most cases, the forum members are pretty good about recognizing these as such and ignoring them.

This happens quite a lot, actually. There will be a supposedly fashion related post, with a link to a business selling shoes or something. I've always wondered what we should do about it.

In the past 12 hours I've seen two posts that I think are advertisements. Is it possible to add something to the website so that we can let you know about suspicious posts efficiently? Should we just send you a private message? Has this happened much before?
