If you want to keep the bottoms looking the same, have the tailor reattach the original hem (usually that's $20 instead of $10). I have to get every.single.pair of pants hemmed, short lengths included, so I just see that as a normal part of buying pants, not something to be avoided.</p> <p>It doesn't work on extreme&nbsp;flares where the knee is tight because the knee will be in the wrong place, or on jeans with moto-style panels over the knee (I had to sell my J Brand Houlihans because the seams caused actual knee pain).
