Sounds like such a fun shopping day! And you both scored some great finds - I'm glad that they allowed Ana to be there for moral/shopping support! I agree that grey flats seem more versatile (and trendy for this season).

Patience, since you are a petite with skinny calves, I have to ask (might start a separate thread for this) - did you find any flat boots that fit your calves but that were not too tall?

Okay. When I pick up my purchases today I'm going to try the gray flats with jeans and try to convince myself that they will get more use (which in my heart I know is true). But at the back of my mind is also the suspicion that I will tempted by another pair of gray shoes down the line. ;)

The vest is quite dark. I was thinking that if it did come in black, I would still prefer the brown because I think it suits me better. So treating the brown as black as far as outfits go is BRILLIANT! As usual. The ideas are already flying.

Glad you had fun Patience and Ana! Our Nordstrom (the flagship downtown), is very strict too. Pre selection is by invitation only and that’s that. And you have to meet the pre selection criteria. Interesting how stores are different.

I definitely think that grey flats are more versatile than blue. They look really nice with jeans.

The dark brown moto vest is virtually black, right? Same colour as your hair I think. I REALLY like the colour. I’d wear it as if it were black and not try to match it up too much. Much edgier.

Were the grey/blue flats comfortable? I saw them but they seemed stiff. I liked the grey better, but the blue did have a sweet appeal!

Those snakeskin boots look killer!

Oh thank you for the description, Patience. That does sound interesting. I'm not much of a shopper, really. So who knows whether I will ever get to the presale? I have enjoyed hearing about everyone's adventures and am looking forward to seeing everyone's haul in action.

Alecia, NAS only has select items on sale but there is more than what's in the catalog. At our store, there was a room (just women's items) with 1-2 2-sided ~4 ft. long racks full of items per department in the store. Sectioned by brand with one size of each item only. (They pulled other sizes from storage for trying on.) Higher end departments had less. So there were probably 15 racks of clothes or so. Also, a big table full handbags, another table of accessories and a couple of bookcase style shelves outside the room with makeup. More bags hanging on the wall. And a 2-sided ~8 ft rack of shoes like they use for shoe sales although part of it was hanging boots which took up a bit more space.

Laura, the stirrup tights were Nordstrom brand at $6.90. I think they're in the catalog or the online catalog.

Lesley, I'm not sure what blouse you're talking about. I didn't look too closely at tops because my belly is just getting bigger and I'm trying not to buy clothes I can't wear now. (Oh it's tempting though...) That's the reason I liked the moto vest-- it looked good over my belly I think and Ana confirmed. A cream knit is actually on my list because I need it for so many things. I'd take a woven too if I can find a good maternity option. I had a cream knit top I loved but it got to non wearable condition and had to be discarded.

Also, Lesley, the SW boots I tried were quite narrow, I thought. Maybe they would work for you? The heel is a bit high-- not sure exactly how high-- but with the platform the shoe is not higher than my max which is 3.5".

About the flats. San, you make me smile-- the blue is a gorgeous color. I'm wishy washy about the color because I do agree that the gray is more practical. When I think about outfits, I feel like I would wear the gray more. But then I think, why not just wear the blue with the same outfits and go for something unexpected albeit more monotone. Or is that crazy talk? Truthfully, I want both colors but that's not really an option.

You did so well. I love your choices.
The blue shoes are beautiful. Maybe you will have an easier time deciding if they should be grey if you think about how often you see shoes in this blue color, and how often do you see shoes in the grey color? I don't recall seeing this beautiful blue very often, therefore I vote blue. They're so pretty and I love the pointy toe on flats.

Having just found a pair of gray flats, I would say go gray. Very versatile and work so well with all the denim shades (or slacks if you go that route).

I second what Lesley says about a cream silky blouse under the moto vest! I didn't see the blouse she mentioned but it sounds perfect. Why don't we all get the same stuff at our pre-sales?? NAS is driving me crazy

P:

Funny...I was gonna post and ask you what you got at the pre-sale! Thanks for sharing!!!

Thoughts about your "haul":

I'm soooo jealous that you got shoes! *cries* I have no idea what I'm going to put on my feet this season!

I like the idea of the gray flats for versatility. You can always paint your toes blue. Hee-hee.

For the moto vest, you could do a silky blouse underneath in cream or a pretty color (raspberry comes to mind for some reason). There was a very pretty blouse in TBD for the NAS that came in those 2 colors. I tried it on under the black moto vest with all of the hardware (Kenna T?). You could also do a graphic tee, or wear yours open (while pregnant) over a dress.

Hope that helps!

I think grey would be a fun color for the flats. I always am challenged by blue and dark denim because there's not as much differentiation between the color.

I'm afraid I'm not much help with the vest.

I do have a question. I'll admit, I still don't understand NAS, especially pre-sale. So is it true that there are only certain items that are included in the sale? Approximately how many items are included? (I did get the catalogue, but Angie suggested that was only a portion of the items available.) And can you really go through ALL the items in a day at presale?

Yesterday, Ana and I stopped by the NAS presale and we had a blast (though we were sorry Sarah couldn't make it.) Our store is apparently pretty strict about reserving the presale for cardholders so Ana was there "to help me make choices" but she got to go through all of the sale items with me and try on the things I picked out too. It was definitely convenient that we wear the same shoe size. There is definitely a lot of great stuff at the sale and I picked up way to much stuff. (Unfortunately, we forgot to bring a camera.)

snakeskin SW boots - pg 47
navy Sam Edelman flats - pg 38
dark brown leather moto vest by June I think; it doesn't have much hardware
stocked up on underwear
grey pearl stretchy bracelet
yoga shorts by Hard Tail
cream wool coat by Tulle- I think there was a very similar if not the same one last year
stirrup leggings (for Ana, Sarah and I)

Ana found an awesome scarf that she's going to get once the sale starts.

Other things I tried but passed on--
Steve Madden boots - pg 6 (These were a great height for shorter me)
R&S boyfriend jeans - pg 7
bright red MJ satchel

I hope Ana will chime in with the things she tried on. My only regret is that I wasn't able to try the great selection of sheath dresses and pencil skirts. Maybe another year. In some ways it's good to have to wait a week to pick up the puchases. I'm thinking of how to wear the things I bought and I figure if I don't come up with enough ideas, they will go back. I do have a couple of questions about the items I got:

1. I couldn't resist the blue flats but they also come in dark gray. In retrospect, I'm wondering if the gray would be more versatile, particularly with denim. Thoughts?

2. Like Ana and Sarah, I'm wondering how to wear the moto vest. There's been a lot of igreat deas on the other threads, but I'm wondering what to wear with dark brown. I haven't worn dark brown in quite a while.

Thanks!
