I live in WI and we deal with a lot of snow, although this winter has been abnormally snowless until a week ago. For slippery sidewalks I find yaktrax a life-saver. The are a rubber/spring contraption that goes over the sole of the boots. Even though my snow boots have good traction, I still don't trust my balance -- but with yaktrax I can walk on bare ice without a second thought. The real pain is when the roads are a mess. I actually can walk to work if needed but won't if the sidewalks and roads are icy. (I'm not living in Seattle proper like Angie-I'm to the east of the city and snow has been coming down hard all day!) So despite my posts about style evolution, I've actually been holed up in cozy loungewear with B. since yesterday morning, sipping tea, reading YLF and my mom's old Oprah magazines, and watching Firefly. Sometimes un-fab clothing is justified, right? </p>
