I'm not wild about them but they definitely look miles better than "traditional" Crocs. If I were wearing them, I would have to deface the logo in the back pretty thoroughly though.

I think it's a plastic foam, actually. And because it's a foam the ventilation is surprisingly efficient from what I understand. I am sorry to admit it but my older sister swears by her crocs (the ugly clog type we all think of), and I always asked how sweaty her feet were, and she says it's the opposite... they keep ya nice and dry.

Apparently it's also this foam that gives them the comfy spring feeling... I would be willing to try them at least.

I have mixed feelings on this. Obviously they look much better than the traditional Croc, but on the other hand, they're still made out of the same material... it's plastic, right? I'm not sure how I feel about wearing plastic shoes. How's the ventilation in them?

Okay Steph, I may have been a little rash in my statement, I just find the price expensive for plastic. Thank you for making me stop and think.

This is a little off-topic, but Julie, in defense of Melissa, I'm not sure that their shoes are very cheap to manufacture. They take so many pains to make sure they are as environmentally friendly as possible, that I'm sure it adds to their manufacturing costs. They recycle 99% of their factory water and waste, and they pay their workers above average wages. I'm sure that increases their costs over companies like Nike (and, by extension, Cole Haan), who are notorious for using sweatshop labor. Too many manufacturers keep their costs down, a savings which they can pass onto consumers (while still making a hefty profit), by exploiting their workers.

Also, the large majority of their shoes that are over $100 are shoes that they make with a named designer, like Vivienne Westwood. I don't know if this is the case, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have some kind of licensing agreement with those designers, and that may add to their costs as well.

I think Croc are heading into cult shoe label Melissa territory with that offering
http://www.asos.com/search/pge.....38;sort=-1
I simply can't get my head around the expense of these very cheap to manufacture shoes.

I think they are cute! Maybe Croc realized that if they want to continue to make money, they have to expand their offerings and make non-hideous shoes. Their profits have taken a hit recently, and the traditional Croc is clearly a fad. They must realize that.

I have always detested crocs, despite people claims that they are "comfortable"..... as if there are no attractive comfortable shoes on the planet?

Anyway, I am on the hunt for fun and edgy flats (due to my recent back injury), and came acrossed these.
http://piperlime.gap.com/brows.....=682401022

My initial reaction was that I liked the simple design, the pretty rose colors, and the sole looks like it would be a good wet weather sole. But then I saw they were crocs! Wha what??

Could I actually LIKE a croc??
