Since you don't know much about your machine, it would be a really good idea to either take a class or enlist the help of a friend who knows a little something about sewing,</p> <p>If I were you, I'd probably start with a skirt with an elastic waistband and no zipper. The first pattern in Sew What is good.</p> <p>Another alternative, and equally easy, would be a wrap skirt. A simple A-line skirt is very easy to make - it's just 3 seams, 4 darts and a zipper. It might be a bit tricky if you have never sewn at all before, but there must be some beginners classes that you could take. I think that would be the most fun way to start - learning with other people. So I am now tempted to learn to sew just so I can have a midi or two in the colors I like. </p> <p>Could any of you who sew give me a starter type of skirt, nothing but simple panels I hope, to get me started. I am looking for a not too full midi, like an A line.</p> <p>thanks </p>
