Hmm...I wish I could try it in store but unfortunately I can't. I'd have to forego shipping charges both ways if I decide to return it. Food for thought. Thank you ladies for the feedback!

I've tried that dress on. I found the quality to be on the higher end for American Apparel, but the cut was too short-waisted for my larger chest (i.e. belt came in awkwardly above my natural waist) and made me look pretty disproportionate. Shame, because the colors are pretty.

I agree, AA is really hit-and-miss with their quality. I buy some t-shirts there (the unisex deep V tee is a favourite) and I love them, they wash and last well. Other times I've looked at things and been appalled by puckering, loose stitching, bad cutting, etc. The only way to be sure about the dress is to try to see it in person, unfortunately.

If you do get it, let us know how it is! I think it's lovely, and I'm interested because the olive colour looks right up my alley!

Niva the dress is beautiful, but I find the quality of AA items very hit and miss.

I would never risk tumble drying an AA item as they are prone to both stretching and shrinking.

Last summer I purchased two tops for myself and was impressed so I ordered two tops for Ben for Fathers Day and I had to return them both. The first tops material was so sheer it was indecent (loose fit) and the second top, a horizontally striped grey and cream v neck, arrived with haphazard diagonal stripes.

I have also found loose threads on some of the items and the sizing is very inconsistent, however, I would still order from AA for their colour selection but I would expect to have to return a large number of the items.

I tried a polo dress from AA several years ago and found it to be exceptionally clingy and t-shirty in construction. I didn't have a lot of lumps and bumps then but the dress managed to give me some. I can't say I would recommend it, but maybe this one is better than the one I tried.

I've been looking for light weight, smart casual, long sleeved wrap dresses and happened to find this: http://store.americanapparel.n.....tml?cid=29

Most of the 299 reviews seem positive and the price is right. Could anyone fill me in on what the quality of AA clothing is like, in general?

Thanks!
Vani
