Harmonica, no experience here with Aspergers/ADD (although I have a few friends with children on the spectrum), but I've posted here before about some of the challenges my family has been through with my wonderful stepson's struggle with mental illness (bipolar). I was a little wary of posting such things here, but neither my stepson nor the rest of us are ashamed of this issue -- in fact, we believe that it needs to be discussed more frankly in our society to take it more seriously as a health problem that needs understanding, attention and treatment. You'll not find a more supportive group than the ladies of YLF, and I know you'll get some useful information from others here. I just wanted to offer my good thoughts for strength and support. Please get help in handling things in whatever way you might need to. It's so important to take care of yourself when you're taking care of others with demanding needs. Big hugs and warm thoughts to you.

Thank you for your support and heartwarming comments. I'm very emotional and actually feel comforted.

I'm very conscious about taking care of my mental and physical health. I get fresh air and daylight every day, and also practice yoga + do strength training + count my blessings every day. My family and friends are immensely supportive.

cinnamon fern - thanks for reminding me about the climate. Ha! How is it possible to forget the "dark side" of Nov-Feb up North? Well, I do sometimes forget it... you know, it's all dark out there Thanks again for the reminder!

I have no experience - but - just wanted to say that this is a hard time of year for a lot of people in northern climates - the lack of daylight can really affect mood and make stressors harder to deal with even if you don't have clinical SAD. Take care of yourself, and try to spend some time outdoors when it actually is sunny!

You're very wise to reach out Harmonica. No one can sort out life's problems without support, advice, and a friendly shoulder to cry on. If you can't share your troubles you run the risk of ruining your own health, and if that happens how can you help your loved ones?
