It's true that the collar shape might be dated. But at the same time, it's flattering to you (a small V is..) and you love the blouse otherwise. I would say, as a layering piece, it still has a place.

anna, I suppose that is likely--it is not even a "classic" spread, but a little wider and rounder, though it would be mostly covered up. The typical shirt collars always get scrunched and flattened at work unless I make a big effort to put them outside of the coat--Angie had a post on collars + jackets and how people deal with it..

Hard to tell on the moto. But I find the blouse collar, particularly that spread, dated.

Thanks, rachylou! I have several blouses I want to keep wearing as I'm not finding similar level of fabric and construction in new items at this point.

Suz, I appreciate the suggestion! I think it the blouse is long enough for semi-tuck (pants waists are much lower than this skirt) and also when I get my trousers back from hemming, will try full and semi-tuck. I have also belted over it in the past--not sure it that's considered out of style now.

I think I will be keeping the moto. Not meaning to sound unenthusiastic but just trying to think much more carefully about what to keep or not, so I've been trying not to rush some decisions. I typically dress down the pencil skirt look because I need to wear them more "action-oriented" ( as opposed to corporate-pumps look) and sometimes a slightly sporty jacket fits that look.

I like the jacket on you a lot! I hope you keep it. It looks like such a versatile piece. I wish I had nabbed one for myself at the sale.

As for the blouse, it sounds as if you still like it and still find use for it. So I would say hang onto it for another season and see how you go. If I were wearing it, I might roll or scrunch the sleeves and wear it semi-tucked or faux tucked with a belt visible but drape in back. (with pants).

Amber Sun ponte moto. The black photo’s so poorly I'm not sure you can tell anything. Took a stab at this after seeing the length measurements, in hopes might work with both pants and skirts, which is hard. I quite like it even though, yes, it’s black, because it's easy to toss on and different from a blazer, a little sportier. It goes with all skirts, is of course a lot of black with black pants, but goes with not-black. Fully zipped it feels tight across chest, but any degree of partial zip is fine, and I’d wear it that way or open. . For the workweek this would be a parking lot-elevator jacket, plus errands after work, and also I think, using Sveta’s example, I’d toss a black fleece zip jacket I have and aim to use for casual as well to get more use from it. Not as cheeky as a cropped moto, but I don't like cropped as much with pants. I'm not in the market to invest in black leather--I'd like a light-colored leather-- so this would be a middle-ground.

1--with tweed trousers, 2--skirt, 3--jeans

Can you see enough to render an opinion? I would like sleeves shorter.

Second question is the blouse—an Austin Reed silk I’ve kept for years and love the color & fabric. I want to put it back in circulation (cooler weather), but I wonder if it’s too big, or if fits the looser fit mold now I think it looks fine draped, arms down, but see Hulk view…I like it enough to have it taken up at the side seams, but the armholes would remain same. Most of the time no one would see the full view; also, it layers well under a sweater to provide collar color.

4--blouse, 5-Hulk view--Ok as is, vs. not okay, vs. alterations ?
