				<description>&#060;p&#062;I had the same experience with my In Progress item which they &#034;found&#034; for me yesterday, charged me for and then sent another note saying they don't have it. I was ready to place another order with the 40% off sale, but this has really soured me on that. I had great luck until now, maybe they were just not ready for the response to their sales and media blitz. Very sad, but I'm also going back to my old favorite Nordstrom.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;To make a very long, convoluted mess of an experience in online shopping and customer service story short: I doubt I will ever again spend money with Talbots.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I actually feel sorry for their customer service people who are as confused, are given contradictory information internally, and must be as disgusted with the Talbots' online order and fulfillment  operation as I am -- even though they are getting paid for their time and efforts. My experience in dealing with the four people I have spoken with in customer service is that one was great, two were just adequate and one was the nastiest woman I have ever had to deal with whose job is Customer Service. So that was just icing on the cake for me.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I am done trying to fix my open and unfilled orders despite the fact the merchandise IS available somewhere within their many walls. Too unpleasant, irritating and a time drain. &#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Short highlights for those who may be interested and who have these same issues with their online orders:&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Yesterday morning, in follow up to my post above, I called about the latest orders that had items &#034;No Longer Available,&#034; yet were still for sale on the website. Customer service reordered the items after confirming the stock was indeed available and recharged my credit card.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;This morning I have brand new emails stating that my daughter's remaining two items would not be filled, and at least one of mine would not be filled. All these items are still for sale on the web site this morning.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I hope the rest of you Talbot shoppers have a better time of it than I did. &#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;BTW, a small silk scarf that I ordered on November 20, and was supposedly shipped from a Massachusetts store to me in Connecticut (I could drive the distance in less than an hour) has still not arrived here.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;However, the Nordstrom Halogen skirt sale items I ordered a couple of days ago with free shipping are out for delivery to me today. Buh-Bye, Talbots.

Two items I ordered are now &#034;no longer available.&#034;  Except when I look online they ARE still available. So I called and they confirmed that they are indeed still available, and I reordered the same items. So, who knows whether I'll really get them or not. &#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I told customer service that she needed to pass the message to management that they need to get their act together and improve their web experience, because there are plenty of other retailers with whom online ordering is easy and efficient, and I for one, will chose them if Talbot's system continues to be antiquated.

You'll be brought to your account page and you will see on the left &#034;Order History&#034; click on that and you'll see your order or orders in chronological order. Click on it and you'll see the status of each item from that order.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;ETA: a good feature they do have is when you see the items in your order history you can click on the picture and go right to the main page for the item and see it's availability online right then and there.

				<description>&#060;p&#062;Yes, there was no problem correcting all the &#034;No Longer Available&#034;s. Talbots was apologetic, explained how it happened and took care of the re-ordering while on the phone with me.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;From what the person I spoke to said and from watching my order statuses and the delivery methods/shipping labels, I think the problem is not in the warehouse side of things, but occurs when the order is farmed out to a store to fill. The store staff seems to take much longer to act on the order, my guess is that they are just not set up and staffed to handle it properly, and in the mean time people are coming into the store and purchasing that store's inventory, so when days go by the item that was available at that shop may no longer be there and the store just cancels the order ticket and nobody picks up the ball to fill the item either back at the warehouse or from another store location.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Just monitor your Talbots account Order History daily and contact them immediately if you see that an item that was available and &#034;In Progress&#034; suddenly becomes &#034;No Longer Available&#034; but still appears on the website. It is a pain, and I have never seen such slow shipping ever, but hopefully they will get their act together and fix these issues ASAP.

Their phone service is top notch, and I've never had trouble sorting out a problem (even with final sale items that were either sized oddly or not quite as described. . .they've taken the items back with no cost to me).  I now call customer service before I order so as to get actual garment measurements, though.

Many websites are not kept up to date, and that is how this happens. It isn't until your order is in process that they (and you) find out that the item is not available.

When you are trying to order something it lets you &#034;click&#034; through; then it will say &#034;sorry no longer available&#034; but if you go back to that item it's still there!  I've spent a lot of time looking at things on Talbot's website but have never actually purchase anything from them (and I buy a TON of stuff online) because of the problems I've experienced.  I finally went into a Talbots store here and it was beautiful inside (it was new), but I agree with Jonesy that some of the sales people were too pushy.  I ended up only buying a couple of necklaces (that I love, btw).

I spent way too long on the site yesterday trying to order a blazer in two different sizes. From start to finish, it took over an hour and now after reading your post, I'm wondering if the order will even get fulfilled.  Sounds like they have some kinks to work out of their system.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;Ugh, agreeing with Jonesy on the hard sell in the stores.  I went in to look at the blazers and must have been asked three times by three different sales people if I was ready to buy that yet. I hadn't even tried it on at that point yet.

Talbot's is an interesting case right now: I love how everything looks in their lookbooks and catalogs, but their B &#038;amp; M stores, at least in my area, are still stuck in a time warp (stores look dated and tired, only the most mainstream merchandise, in lots of pastels, is available, saleswomen are very pushy and hard-sell). And it sounds like their online process is a mess too.

&#060;p&#062;Classically Casual is correct in that they haven't ironed out all the glitches in their inventory system. It was explained to me that items ship from both a central warehouse and from their brick and mortar stores. &#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;If this happens, that something shows up in your status as no longer available, but you see it on the site and you call, they will re-order the item(s) if they are still available and honor the promo price.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;I guess the lesson is that you need to keep checking your order status with them so you can catch when this happens.

They know they need to offer it, but haven't put the resources into a smooth experience for the customer.  So I personally have given up and left their site each time I've looked.&#060;/p&#062;
&#060;p&#062;In contrast  I got caught up in the Missoni for Target madness, and ordered some salad plates on line.  After a month or so of being &#034;in progress&#034; and receiving updates from Target, the order was canceled. Target then sent me a very nice apology and a $25 gift card!  Though I'm not normally a Target shopper, I came away with the impression that they very much wanted to please their customers.&#060;/p&#062;
