I can't live without my cardigans. Nothing beats the practicality for my lifestyle and even more so with a baby now. I am just now plotting my next cardigan purchase.

My Halogen tipped cardigan is the only one that I'm wearing these days - one of my first Nordstrom purchases and very comfortable. Someone, maybe you or Zapotee(?), commented on how that type of cardigan can be difficult to style and I have to say I agree. I basically wear one or two tops with it. No matter how many others I pull out to try I end up sticking with the standbys. But, I still like it!

I love cardigans, except for crew necks. They've been a wardrobe staple for me nearly all my life. I had a dress in kindergarten that had a matching cardi, and I felt like the Queen of England.

Sounds like you're not the only one, IK I do like the cardis of yours that I've seen -- more interesting to my eye than the twin-set cardi or waterfall cardi.

However, as much as I've tried to incorporate cardis into my wardrobe, it's just not happening. I'm much more of a jacket type of girl. I do have one cardi that I wear though--it's an All Saints super cropped, super deconstructed (asymmetrical, raw edges, pockets hanging out) kind

Another Team Cardigan member here. I have broader shoulders and a smaller waist, so cardigans are easier to fit than jackets/blazers. Being petite, I can scrunch sleeves if they're slightly too long, rather than having to alter like a jacket/blazer. I wear cardigans year-round for warmth (indoors to combat AC during the summer), as I run cold. But it's nice to be able to pull one off if the temperature changes, versus a pullover that isn't so easy to remove. I will never stop wearing them, no matter how not-trendy they might be!

I am so on team cardigan. They are so much easier to fit my broad shoulders and slim hips as on the top I am a 14 and the bottom a 10. Blazers always have the waist too high up, the sleeves too wide and the hips can be absolutely swimming. I look larger in blazers but a custom made one is perfection...
I do really worry about frump factor and really think that is my rubric though so...

Today I planned to wear my new blazer but with the cold am batting for silk short sleeve t, merino wool turtle and wool/cashmere sweater coat. Pants are also cords instead of skinnies.

I'm loving my sole light-grey boyfriend cardigan this year, for reasons Natalie and Denise have mentioned. So much easier to fit over an ever-expanding belly, so much easier to cool off said belly in without chilling the arms.

In fact, I am so keen on cardis this year that I just bought two more --- a woollen boyfriend style as well as a less-warm waterfall!

I've been kicking myself over my lack of decent (as in, can be worn outside the house) cardigans for several years. I find cropped ones as difficult as crew necks, maybe because I don't have much of a 'waist' (round-bellied rectangle here).

Nicole, not sure what you are looking for, but my Lands End catalog arrived a couple o days ago, with a floral cardigan on the cover. I haven't looked inside to see what else they have going, but it might be worth a check if you still want one.

Oh no! I love the "dated drapey waterfall-front ones" that you mentioned! I used to wear a lot of crew neck cardigan twinsets pre-YLF so I got kind of sick of them and they've been purged. I only discovered the waterfall style since I joined a year ago. My red and grey waterfall ones are staples of my MOTG capsule! Great for preggo/nursing moms too.

I love cardigans! For some reason I find blazers and jackets really hard to get a decent fit (broad shoulders? I'm not sure.) I also like to be comfortable, and jackets feel a little restrictive to me. I like long cardigans with interesting knitted details, such as the Anthropologie cardigan below. I don't really wear short ones anymore. I still like the waterfall style as well, especially when worn belted - I still see them everywhere, so I don't think they're over yet!

I own more cardigans than blazers, even though I consider myself firmly on team blazer. For some reason I find cardigans easier to purchase than pullovers or blazers. It always seems like the most items in a store are the cardigan sections.

I have never batted for Team Cardigan. Pullover ALL THE WAY.

I do love the look of a certain type of cardigan vibe on others. Retro, masculine, arty or boho gets my vote - classic needs a good injection of modern.

Una -- I can't do crewneck cardis, either -- it's partly the preppy vibe, and partly that they don't suit me anyway. But a boyfriend-style cardigan, a little slouchy, with only the top two or three buttons done up, works wonderfully with all kinds of outfits. It essentially draws a v-shape on top, followed by an iverted v-shape underneath, suggesting a more hourglass body shape overall. The two v shapes have to come together somewhere just beneath your bust. Try it! I bet it'll work for you.

I'm completely off cardigans, at least the regular kind... It has to be really unusual for me to not feel too classic... I think I wore them far too much in the past, and I can't for the life of me style a crewneck cardi.

I'm wearing one now. However I did notice recently that I'd gotten undisciplined in my cardigan purchasing habits, and was buying ones in colors that were a shade or two off of being optimally flattering, and also buying ones that were too long, too baggy, too banded--in other words they didn't fit well. I had decided that cardigans were so useful that I should get one in every color.

Now I want to buy fewer, better quality ones. This can be hard--I've never seen a cashmere cardigan whose cut I truly loved.

I am still wearing my bright coloured vneck knit cardis that I love to mix and match with sleevless shells and camis. I have one waterfall one that I still like, but I don't think I will buy more. Pullovers don't appeal as much because I find them harder to layer stylishly (I own exactly one layerable button down shirt) and because of body temp issues, like CocoLion mentioned, I don't want to be pulling it on and off all day messing up my do!
At this point in my style evolution I don't see myself wearing blazers or other toppers under a winter coat often. It's not comfortable and it feels too formal or fussy for my office environment. So I only have a few such jackets and I mostly wear them in the spring and fall when they act as outerwear.
So... I hope cardis are here to stay because they are a pretty important part of my style.

Not only am I still wearing them, I just bought a new one:

http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ta-sweater

It does take some care to avoid the frumpy look, but I find cardigans endlessly useful as jacket substitutes. I prefer long ones, though. I've never managed to make short cardigans look anything but frumpy.

Nope! I wear cardigans like its my job.

I find the softer look of a cardigan works better for me than the structure of a jacket.

Of course, that's probably because I have yet to find a jacket I actually like and commit to.

I wear them a lot. Too much I sometimes think. I actually did a count the other day, just for fun, based on a comment that a friend made, and discovered I have 11 black ones!!!! Eek. They are all different, for the most part, but I'm thinking a bit of purging might be in order
