Wow, those are beautiful pants! Black with a navy stripe? (stop it E, don't go there.....)

I'd be tempted to leave them long. I think they are more versatile, and for me personally, I'd want versatility for that price. Finding pants that break well with flat(ish) shoes is tough, and very useful for times when you are going to be on your feet a lot. I've hardly worn my favourite flat black shoes for the last couple of years for this reason... they don't work with any of my current pants. Save the cropped look for another pair.

(I think I might just call Canadian Nordies about these... just out of curiosity of course...sigh)

I was just thinking about full length pants this week. I have some that I wear all winter but they just aren't very exciting. Should they be skinny, flared, straight? How should they hit the shoe? I'll be interested in seeing some WIW's with long pants. These sound perfect and look really beautiful.

It's funny because with some of the wide- legs trending now, you'd think I'd be going there more this fall. I had my drapey wide- leg pleats last fall but am not feeling the love this year , and really, on me the wider legs WANT higher heels and also some are more overtly dramatic than I want for work - like some flares too.
At some level I've been more about interpreting pants- footwear as a unit--which combinations work best to fit the style- comfort of shoe that is actually do-able, and pants that will work with tops and toppers without such a struggle for proportions . Not sure that I'm expressing it well...or whether I can dress more intuitively about what works for me but still evolve with the times.

You are the boss of your pants!

In fact there are so many cropped pants now I bet you will be leading the trend next year. I love an elegant trouser/pant that is full length.

Firecracker, thanks for the input
You know, this summer I got a pair of BR cropped straight jeans and LOVED them. To me it was a real style " advance" and looked fresh( for me) with all sorts of tops and sneakers and I was glad I went that route.
I think I find it harder to look " serious" in cropped work pants compared to more traditional lengths.Maybe I feel Twee! However I have condiderably changed other aspects of pants fit ( several times) over the past 5 years and also will wear other trends like a high waist or pleats or culottes or some types of footwear before they've really percolated into my area. So I think I'm adopting/adapting updates that I like.

Sounds like these will work well for you at full length, and it also sounds like they are a beautiful trouser with a nice fit for you. I'd go with your preference now. As you say, you can always crop them later if you change your mind.
You've raised the question of a potentially drapier fit. I bet if you tried the next size up, they'd just look big, and not drapey. In the model photo, it looks like they are designed to be fairly trim, not a loose, drapey fit. If they feel and look good, I think you are set.

I took a leap on the St. John stretch wool " cropped" tuxedo pants (I cannot say the c________ word or Le S______, but they are slim black with a contrasting navy tuxedo stripe. )
As Angie described, they are a lovely lightweight wool and with 4% spandex. They remind me a bit of some of the great Theory suit pants that I can never wear because Theory pants don't " get" me.
Well- they are very fun with a high waist( though not total high waist, on me! ), flat front but I can tuck in blouses and feel pretty good- amazing for this kind of fit.
However, on me they are full- length, not cropped. Possibly not some folks's PPL but they DO break on the foot with flats. And because they are not super- skinny, they fall well over slim boots and when that is combined with a tucked top, it's a pretty long legline.
To make them cropped if have to hack off 4-5 ". That does look good with a pair of booties I have, but it's more seasonally confused-limited for me.
If I wear them at full length, I can wear ballet flats, loafers or pumps as a bare- vamp look and also with several pairs of ankle boots and could wear socks or tights with those in winter. Amazingly they work with tucked- in silky shirts and drapey T's and also with bigger, roomier untucked knits and sweaters.

So I'm tempted to utilize them as a more classic(?) slim tuxedo pant to make use of this great season- less stretch fabric and versatility and forego the option to trend- ify them as crops. Of course I could always shorten them later, though it's possible the cropped craze would be waning by then.
Stylish tucking in and graceful pant looks are more my style goals and than getting the cropped look or kick flare look which can tend to go wrong and also is not warm enough in cool
weather. I have 2 other less expensive cropped pants and a couple at ankle so I am wearing a few diffeent types of pant silhouette, not all long. But, Winter Is Coming.

Thoughts, experiences, regrets?
I think I have the right size though the fit is close- I think it works with the stretch wool and flat front/ flat, no- loop waistband. If in a store, I would always try on a size up to see if they are meant to be more drapey, but I would for sure have to alter the waist and backwaist if any bigger.
