Tanya, my eyes are a grayish-green color. I tend to shy away from warmer blues (e.g., aqua) and greens because I'm afraid of too much yellow (my skin has a yellowish tint). I definitely need to figure out shades of blues and greens that work for me. I have worn olive green (close to the color of my eyes) in the past and felt it looked pretty good on me. I love purple but never seem to find any that match my personal tastes (it can't be too bright and I don't feel I look good in pastels).

Please go ahead with the colors Becky! What color are your eyes? If they are blue, you could wear all the shades of blue, blue-based greens, purples and berries. Actually, I think you would look good in these colors regardless of your eye color!

Thank you, ladies. For some reason, I can't seem to look at myself objectively, so your input helps a lot! I may ask for your input on some colors. Dressing room lighting seems to make everything look ghastly and I can't seem to trust my own eyes unless it's a color I have worn successfully before (which may explain why my closet is full of reds and rich pinks and not too much else).

You are NOT a pretty pear my dear Becky – a hot hour glass for sure. This all makes sense! I had suspected that you were an hourglass!

Tanya and Antje speak perfect sense with their own body type analogies. It shall soon make more sense for you. Start off by following the hourglass rules and take it from there. You have beautiful creamy skin!

I think you're an hourglass as well. You know, I always thought of myself as a pear, too, due to my small chest. But then I learned that it's the width of the shoulders that plays a much bigger role, and your shoulders aren't narrow (neither are mine). That makes you an hour glass, so I'd go with those suggestions/guidelines. Definitely go for waist-accentuating clothes, very flattering for your shape!

Hi Becky, I think you could be an hourglass, or somewhere between hourglass and pear, that is one of those two tending towards the other. I am not very good at this tough, but I'm sure Angie will jump in! She helped me determine to be an hourglass even tough I thought am a pear, and my shape is fairly similar to yours.
I look at the advice for hourglass, some for pear and even some for rectangle (for my top half).

OK, I've always thought I've tended toward being a pear. My measurements are: Bust: 32, Waist: 28, Hips: 37. Sounds pretty pearish, right? But my strong shoulder line makes we wonder if I need to take some suggestions intended for other body types, too (I don't really think I want to make my shoulders appear broader!). Here's a photo:

http://i285.photobucket.com/al.....oo/004.jpg

After I looked at the photo, I realized this top might not be form-fitting enough to see a true body shape. Should I ditch this top? I like the colors and pattern, and it is somewhat shaped, but I've always felt my waist is one of my better features and I'd like to emphasize it.

So what's the verdict? Do I go exclusively with the pear suggestions? Or are there other factors I need to consider?
