Even here in San Diego I see lots of stylish girls wearing boots like these. Go for it!! I do think the pair that Shiny linked to might carry you through a few more seasons - a bit less faddish. As people have said, now is the time to have fun!

As a young college student there is no better time to have fun with fashion.
I also wore moccasins in middle school along with many other students. It's a fond memory, and never gonna happen again at my age.
Have fun with your style while you're young. Do you have the attitude to go with it? You will probably have people looking at you (in admiration) and need to be able to handle that.

Lissy, I agree that the ones Shiny linked to are more stylish. Moccassins in general could be really fun, and I too have seen other styles (on Piperlime, Endless) that looked neat and would work great if you have some boho element in your style. I don't really dig the fringes and the feather tassel on the ones you showed us.

Poking around the Piperlime site, I see that they are predicting a return of the mocassin as one of the three big trends. If that's true, and you are a college student, then I would suggest this style instead:

http://www.piperlime.com/brows.....=583855002

... because it's knee-high and laces up. Personally, I don't think *any* boots that hit at the calf are flattering on anyone. That's part of the problem with Uggs.

For the record... I wear Uggs, have worn them long before they became a trend, and will wear them forever. I have three pairs, ankle height (black), calf height (tan), and knee height (off-white). I don't wear them to make a style statement; I wear them for practical reasons: we tend to get a lot of snow in Boston, and I also can't stand cold toes. I wear them to shovel, to get in some exercise even when there's a foot of snow on the ground), and to commute in the snow (i.e., I bring along a second pair of shoes to swap into once I've reached my destination).

Also for the record... I remember wearing moccasins in my younger days. They were all the rage in middle school. We wore the kind that had no rubber sole. It was like wearing socks to school. Unfortunately, they quickly wore out and got holes, but that was part of the charm!

My best friend back then - who was always the uber style setter - had a pair exactly like the link I just posted! She'd wear them with long hippie skirts.

Ah... memories!

It's a look. A Pocahontas look!

I can’t fault it style wise. It doesn’t look enough like a bedroom slipper and you’re very young, right? Better than an UGG for sure.

I saw Nicole's post about jackets, and I thought I should post something I want but am not sure will get Angie's stamp of approval.

Some backgroud: I'm a college student, so I'm young and I love playing with fashion. I love wearing skinny jeans, and I've been trying to find a reasonably priced flat boot in either brown or black that I can walk around campus comfortably in, and that oh yeah, are NOT Uggs (don't even get me started on these!). I do have a little hobo going on in my style as well.

So here are the boots in question:

http://www.piperlime.com/brows.....=578582002 (the black)

http://www.piperlime.com/brows.....=551699002 (the brown)

I should note that the feather tassel is completely removable. I have seen them in person on a friend and I thought they look great in the appropriate setting. I would wear them either with tucked in dark wash skinnies or leggings.
Please tell me if I'm being ridiculous or if you want to steer me in a different directions. Other suggestions that fit my criteria would also be helpful.

Thank you thank you thank you!
